This was a few days after my order so I’ll just have to be patient.

I just can’t believe they don’t stock the kit. A lot of their competitors do and they offer free shipping.

Yeah I’m pretty sure that’s the case. To be fair to Tacoma Beast they made me acknowledge the wait time, which I did. I had just hoped where I tried cancel my order so quickly they would let me. It sounds like it’s a Magnuson policy not theirs.

Yeah, on 488's you have more contact on the gears with the pinion so therefore it is stronger than 529's. You can probably count how many teeth are there and see it. There was a video on this somewhere but I forget where, maybe the guys from Yukon gears explained it.

I know it’s not SC related but I felt inclined to comment.

What people fail to realize is there is less stress on the gear teeth in the 5.29 setup due to the mechanical leverage. How much less? Well, about the same amount the ratio is lower by: 8.4% (5.29/4.88).

Keep in mind some key stats:

    5.29 - 37 teeth / 7 teeth

    4.88 - 39 teeth / 8 teeth

so while you may have more tooth engagement at any given moment with 4.88, you also have smaller teeth making that engagement. Since the teeth have to make it around the same circle, that means on 5.29, the teeth are larger. When you consider the fact that 5.29 is 8.4% lower than 4.88, and the teeth are larger, it’s fair to reason that the two gearsets are probably about the same overall strength. Very few failures are reported for either of them unless the diff is severely undersized, so it probably isn’t worth being a factor in ratio choice at all.

All that to say tooth contact is only one single variable amongst a number of variables that would determine strength of the gearset. Sometimes while you may have less teeth in contact, you have more contact per each tooth, or stronger teeth making the contact, or less force on each tooth due to the lower ratio.

I am ordering a new impact in preparation for the crank bolt. I’m looking at the 1/2 mid torque Milwaukee. Do you think that will be enough? It’s fairly compact and has 650 ft-lbs of torque.

I recall the crank bolt being the only thing that really got me hung up. I think I eventually used my pneumatic gun to get it off because my Milwaukee wouldn't fit. But this one looks more compact. Worst case you go big ass cheater bar.

I’m a dewalt garage, but I used a DCF900B for mine, worked fine.

small tip, you will already have the bottom radiator hose off by the time you get to the crank bolt. If I were to do it again, I’d pull the radiator from the get go and make life on myself easier. In the end I upgraded the rad anyways, but even if keeping it I’d pull it for the install.

Late post, but it’s been installed since May. Went to OTT and loving it! Debating on smaller pulley

Been a minute since I've been on due to work and life stuff. Hope everyone is well (health/happiness). With that said, I am 32k miles into my SC with yotawerx tune (total 53k) and there have been zero issues other than a bad coolant cap that I easily replaced via Amazon.
But, I have noticed there might be good justification for going to the 87mm pulley (mileage, psi, power). And, that it might not be bad long term either (I say maybe). I'm a daily driver who doesn't commute to work anymore since I telework. My miles have come way down and am wondering if anyone has any long term use of the 87 mm with yotawerx tune? Thanks in advance for your input!

I’ve been running the 87mm pulley before the tune was built. I’d have to look back on timing of when it was done but the truck now has 56k miles and I think the blower went on just before 10 or 11k.

I was so excited when I got this email notification and then I realized it was just the pulley and not my supercharger haha.

And what would you say are the results of the 87mm pulley? Makes driving better? Gas mileage? Any stress on other components? Thanks.

Rocking the stock magnuson build 90mm, Off boost performance with OTT is increased enough that i dont get into boost around town as much with the tune compared to the Mag tune. I would imagine being in the right gear plays a factor in that also.

More power and seems like a little power comes in slightly sooner in the rpm range. I ran it on the og Magnuson tune, the early Yotawerx software and then on the pulley specific files. Fuel mileage and temperatures seemed to stay close enough to say no real change. I swapped back to the 90mm at one point and immediately noticed the power drop.
