Got it all installed, started up, no leaks, everything looked good. And then I noticed I ran the factory serpentine belt over instead of under the idler pulley that's behind all the new pulley brackets and mounts.

    :annoyed:

I went and bought a DeWalt 1/2" impact rated at 330 ft/lbs, figured if the torque spec is 204ft/lbs that should work. It didn't. Ended up having to jam a screw driver through the pulley and use a 5' cheater (kayak paddle) on my breaker bar. Busted the paddle, broke an extension and bent the shit out if the screwdriver but it finally broke free enough that the impact hit it off the rest of the way.

Got the belt rerouted properly and everything buttoned back up after checking for leaks. Putting off the drive until the morning. Figure without my mistake and the three hours spent on the crank bolt it took about 12 hours total for the install. All in all pretty straightforward and only a few times where the instructions and pictures weren't immediately clear.

I have about 960 miles in the past 2 weeks driving back and forth on the same highway 120 miles each way.

I have a pretty good handle on performance now while towing.

with a 5000lb load and tandem axles I’m averaging 13mpg at 80 mph never shifting out of 6th on the trip.

With just the trailer 1100lbs I’m getting 14.5mpg

Without the trailer at the same speed and gear I get 15.5mpg

with a fully loaded trailer it feels like I’m pulling an empty trailer. I can actually pass people without shifting out of 6th. Cruise control will allow 5psi of boost without me helping it.

With the empty 1100lb trailer with tandem axles, the truck still feels faster than my stock taco did.

Anyone here know if the new version of the tune is out? I'm running V7 - thought V8 was to be out in late April.

330 wont do anything. Sometimes i use my 500lb-ft impact and it can barely break loose a lug nut that should have been set to 100...!

This is the one you need... https://www.dewalt.com/products/pow...rench-with-detent-pin-anvil-tool-only/dcf899b

Yep, lesson learned. I have a nice new impact but probably should've gone one step bigger. I did remove the radiator and pushed the ac condenser out of the way and my old plug in Kobalt impact didn't budge it either.

Edit: Looked it up and the old Kobalt only does 350ft/lbs anyway, figured it was more because it's so huge.

Thank you for the towing feedback. I see you are in Oklahoma. If you can't say which stretches of which highway you are traveling, would you mind trying to describe the hills (elevation change, length)? Thanks again for the info. A big help.

Have you gotten tracking on yours yet? I just got an automated shipping message from Magnuson that says "Order from MAGNUSON PRODUCTS transmitted to UPS." and it has all the shipping details but no tracking number.

Had a conversation with Runnin4Tacos (vendor I purchased from) about lead times from when I ordered (06MAR) they were saying potentially add another 4-6 weeks from Magnuson, approximately three days after that conversation (took place early last week) I received shipping info from Magnuson saying my packages would arrive this past Saturday, and they did, rumor is per conversation with Running4Tacos is a batch was shipping last week and another batch within the next two weeks.

I'll be sure to update once my calibration file is back tomorrow. Just received my SC and installing this week, I'll see if they're providing the newest version.

Putting the spurs to her with my air impact at 130psi (90psi Max) made me wonder if it wasn't delivering full power in reverse or mine is clapped out from being used too hard. Either way this has convinced me that I am going with a cordless impact to replace my current air impact and will most likely be the Milwaukee M18 Fuel 1/2" High Torque.

For those that prefer the Hog Ring vs Detent, whats your reasoning? Seems like when I'm under a vehicle the hog ring makes it harder to get the impact socket on/off vs the detent typically locks into a hole in the impact socket or can be aligned for less socket retention.
