Hopefully it’s tuning and not dyno advice... that would mean performance on-street goes up vs only on-dyno.

I have not yet but I will. My biggest gripe is that while maintaining steady throttle position in 1st and 2and gear the truck will surge around 2500 rpm and get a real kick in the pants and take off. Then fall flat on its face when shifting to 2and and then takes off again at 2500 rpm. It really feels like a tuning limitation rather than a function of making boost.

AT or MT ? what version of their Tune are you running? Read somewhere they had updated it since original release. I don't have my kit yet but have been considering calling their Tech Support and seeing how much they know about vFt software use and what if any changes they are making or plan to make and release. Wondering too if what you are experiencing is related to the brass flow restrictor that is in the end of the by-pass device where the vacuum hose connects. Some remove this and others take it out and use a drill bit to increase the hole size in it and place it back.

3" lift, 285/70r17, 4.88, Bilstein 5100s, Icon UCAs, Ripp coil packs, Afe catted downpipes, URD Spec-U w/dual exhaust.
OpelGT has an MT as well and he didn't have a similar mid-pull dip

3rd Gen Magnuson Supercharger Review & Discussion
Yes the Afe catted downpipes have been installed. In full disclosure, I also replaced the standard URD Y-Pipe with the Spec-U and swapped the Flowmaster 50 I had been running with one of their 70 series dual outlet into MBRP dual split side pipes. I also bought a new set of downstream lambda sensors. I was previously tripping a low sensor voltage CEL (confirmed using OBDLink) every couple of weeks, which I believed was due to a bad sensor on bank 2.

First off, its been a couple of hundred miles and no more CELs. The Spec-U is the newer design with the resonated merge collector. After much trial and error, the sound is now exactly where I always wanted it, quiet in the cabin, no rasp at all, overall note sounds like its down about an octave. Power delivery is much more linear.

Is it quicker??? Objective data is lacking. My intent was to put every possible support mod in place prior to forced induction. Gears were swapped to 4.88s. ECU is currently running OV 2.0 premium with Thx. I expect to add the LS500 injectors with OV fuel pump upgrade at the same time the Magnuson gets installed. With the speed at which this software is evolving, I just want to be able to add a smaller pulley and reflash to stage 2 without having to reinstall the blower.

Knowing that Matt can advise Magnuson about tuning changes based upon owner-posted dyno results on a public forum is VERY encouraging.

Did you remove the small restrictor in the vacuum line?

Same as stock if you drive nicely.
I’ve gotten as low as 9 mpg having fun though. I average 13mpg city but I use the boost as often as I can. Before the SC I got 13.5-14.5mpg city. 17-19mpg highway same as stock.

I asked one of the Magnusson salesman about tweaking the tunes and got a very confusing answer. Essentially, he said no, but he also said that maybe OV could help with the changes, which seems weird to me because the Maggie tune is locked. I’m sure someone will come up with a better tune for the SC soon.

OV does the tunes for Maggie. I think they are working on a new update.

Yeah I’m tracking. My reply was kind of weirdly written, my apologies. What I mean is that the Magnusson rep suggested I ask OV to help me make the tweaks to the Maggie tune. He also said that they will not make any changes to their tune.

I guess it’s all a bit murky. Mat has been pretty clear that he won’t be developing a tune for the Maggie SC. My interpretation is that whether or not he’s actually writing their locked tune, he won’t be writing *others*.

Perhaps that’s a non compete agreement, or perhaps he wants to focus on his turbos, or maybe even it’s a matter of competition between his turbos and their product. Who knows.

If not prohibited from writing a tune, I think it’s a missed opportunity for him to develop his own and sell them locked to VIN. That’s just me though, I’m sure he has his business model to consider and how best to achieve long term stability.

To be clear, Magnuson develops their own tune. I do not provide them anything other than vF Tuner.
The tune, files, etc, all are developed in house by magnuson.

hence my request for information on the vFTuner thread about a listing of who has the Pro version of the vFTuner software - with the underlying thought of ensuring the Magnuson Tune is indeed taking into account simple improvements Mat @OVTune has made that should be applicable to SC tunes, gearing, exhaust, air-load, tire size, and other limiting factors to basic performance whether NA or FI. IF Magnuson Tune is "locked" can the Pro Tuner version unlock it for this purpose? Would Mat @OVTune help us out even if it is for a fee? I'd hope so and I'd be in.

On another note: I hope Mat does follow up on his post #120 of this thread with Magnuson.

The dyno does not make me want to spend the money on this; nor does magnussons commitment to upgrading their tune.

on the ABS fuse Matt said disables the rear brakes I have to disagree for my 2020. I pulled ABS 1&2 to disable the traction control. Dash is a Christmas tree of warning lights, but the traction control is off and I am still able to use 4H and 4L with brakes. Before someone complains this is a dedicated trail rig, not my DD.

You aren’t going to get access to Magnuson’s tuning file. That’s their intellectual property. If another pro account can view it, that defeats the purpose of locking the file.
If you want to know any info on the tune you’ll have to get it from Magnuson.
