Hes working on the tune for a stock truck still... which is great. Add turbos and that tune and package will be done in about 2 years. Hasn’t posted much for progress, switched from twins. Neither are happening until a kit is released.

Why would you want "turbo's" on this truck? I mean unless there is a huge racing scene I wasnt aware of....

I think a SC is a much better option. Turbos would require an entire exhaust system rework, significantly increase under hood temps, require oil piping, and require a cool down rest after driving either by sitting idling or with a turbo timer as there isn't factory piping from the coolant system. SC should be a much simpler install at a minor efficiency loss.

    Doesn’t sound overly promising..

    “Hi Joe

Thank you for your interest in Harrop Performance Products

As a part of our continuing additions to of our product lines we continue to look at global platform vehicles for our product development.

We are currently evaluating the Tacoma but at this stage do not have any specific plans for a kit.

    Regards”

Here is the email I received back...

    "Hi Brian,

Thanks for your interest in Harrop Performance Products.
Unfortunately we don’t have anything available for the Tacoma at the moment but it is definitely something we are looking into, I would suggest to keep an eye on our Facebook page as it becomes available there will posts about it."

I like my email better than the one you posted... all we can do is hope for the best.

Consider: With our transmission's shifting problems the last thing we want to exacerbate that is a roots-type supercharger that would magnify the transmission's abuse of our engines. Magnusson-type superchargers are relatively brutal in their sudden production of torque compared to the smoother power progression of a centrifugal supercharger. None of us would be happy with that hammering power for very long, so be careful of what you wish for. The centrifugal Procharger's power application is much more progressive, but still massive approaching full throttle, rewarding a much greater everyday drivability.

We are much closer to convincing Procharger to develop the Tacoma bracketing for their already proven P1-SC for the Taco than any other company's SC/turbo alternative. They have already had many inquiries, and are mulling it around. But they need to be pushed over the edge to commit. How? You can CALL THEM. You can DRIVE OVER THERE. The person that answers the phone wants one! Somebody drive your test mule over there and offer it up for development. Are you telling me that if one of the largest selling vehicles in the world, one with extreme owner satisfaction, one that could really benefit from added power, one that has a proven following that has shown that the following will gladly spend thousands on upgrades, if this vehicle is offered to them gratis, to develop an application that would have NO COMPETITION, that they wouldn't jump at the opportunity to differentiate their product? Maybe we need to be talking to their financial guys rather than their engineers. The guys that are tasked with responsibility of making the company more profitable this year than last year will see the potential and build a fire under the asses of the developers. This one product application alone would secure their yearly performance-based bonus. Name an application with more sales potential than this one. The 5.0? Any that existed..., it's already been developed! WE are the next big thing for them. Yeah, you get to the bean counters and this concept would go front-burner real quick! It's just bracketing and basic tune for God's sake to mount their already-proven entry-level supercharger. More than enough room for the intercooler on our trucks. Somebody drive over there and kick in the front door. I'm sure the lady that answers the phone is sitting right there. I bet she will usher you in without an appointment to whoever has the authority to make this decision. She REALLY wants one. I talked to her. Somebody get over there and demonstrate a demand pull for the product through their development system.

Just sitting here and lamenting the situation for another twelve pages of "poor us" messages ain't gonna get it done. Take action. Act. How?

You guys in the Kansas City area put together a Cars and Coffee-type Tacoma get-together on...say...a Friday morning. Do a Tacoma-only mid-morning cruise to Procharger's home office in Lenexa Kansas, just a short drive away, before the decision makers go home for the weekend. Maybe a Tuesday or Wednesday would be even better. Show up there EN MASSE and park and display your rides with pride in front of their corporate office, exhibiting the tens of thousands of dollars that you have already spent on aftermarket upgrades for your Tacos. DEMONSTRATE to them the money you already spent and the profit dollars that they might have captured had they previously developed an application. Demonstrate for them the untapped market and the future profit dollars passing them by due to their inaction. Demonstrate for them the potential. I guarantee you as someone who has been in the same situation, that they are sitting in their offices right now desperately searching for how they are going to grow. Go hit them over the head with the answer. A lightbulb moment for them.

Go in as a group, RESPECTFULLY, as a community that wants to partner with them and assist them to get this accomplished. If you can acquire iso drawings of the engine bay dimensions to leave with them, all the better. And refuse to leave until the finance guys come out.

I considered buying a head unit and punching out a bracket and tubing. Think for ease of use and installation centrifugal is the best solution. We are not building Indy cars here.

Was waiting for OV guy to get done and see the final results. No fun being a lab rat and with no way to tune kinda a lost cause.
Think there is some money to be made with a 5k supercharger kit.

Agreed. I have a P1-SC kit sitting in my shop that I haven't installed on my G8 yet. I have eyeballed it. It can be stuffed in there. Let them have a Taco for a week to allow their engineers to acquire the engine bay metrics and they will figure it out real quick. As you said, this ain't rocket science.

The head is already developed. The break-even point to design/mock-up/test/redesigned/punch list the bracketing/plumbing and tune would be reached on the sale of the third or fourth kit. It's all profit from then on.

Those that can, do. Those that can't...need to have their asses whipped. You know if Roger Penske owned this company this would have been finished and on the market already.

“Thanks for your interest in ProCharger Superchargers. Unfortunately, we do not offer a compatible system for your Tacoma at this time, with no plans to offer one in the immediate future. We do offer a supercharger, intercooler and other components that would be properly sized for the horsepower of this application. You would still be responsible for all development and fabrication of the mounting bracket, drive system, charge tubing, and ECU tuning of the vehicle. If you would like to discuss the specific components we have to offer for a universal type application, please give us a call at 913-338-2886 (M-F, 8:30am - 5:30pm CST). Thank you for your interest in ProCharger”

I have built a kit in the past... just not sure I want to venture down that path right now. The hardware is no problem, it's the ECU tuning.

Yeah, you get that too often these days. And if you let that kind of crap stop you then you'll never get very far in life. You get...handled. Park on their lawn, go inside and buy their swag, put it on and ask to speak with the CEO. If they won't speak to you, borrow one of their trashcans on the way out, take off all the swag, put it in the can and burn it on their lawn. Of course I am speaking figuratively and rhetorically. Do not start a fire at Procharger. Go in there En Masse and make them deal with you instead of blowing you off. Maybe then they will take the next guy through the door seriously. Most of you are probably too young to remember the guy who drove his Lincoln up on the front lawn of Ford and set it on fire in the mid seventies. Made national news. A lot of quality control improvements happened after that. That fire was what caused Ford to adopt the slogan, "At Ford, quality is job One."
