Magnuson Supercharger

i dont have a 3rd gen, but hopefully they make a proven true tune for the super charger, as they didn't do a successful job on the 2nd gen.

 

Magnuson didn't make the tune for the 2nd gen, Toyota had their own.

 

Maybe its their development for getting the tune in and keeping it. But a lot of guys had issues with improper ratios. And once they went to the trd reflash it was fine. Maybe it's bully dog then?

 

The TRD reflash isn't all that great either. Issues of rich conditions is not something I would want either. I have friends who have the blower with the TRD reflash. It's not that great. Hearing and talking to Magnuson few weeks ago about their tune make me more comfortable about their direction with these newer designs. Bully dog tuners are crap period even the diesel guys I talked to agreed.

BTW I'm getting the blower for the 5th gen 4Runner

 

Mind going into more detail about what you conversed with Magnuson?

 

Maybe they can work with OV Tune.

 

It's not exactly rocket science haha. Someone should have it as long as toyotas code is cracked and there isn't some sort of reset glitch.

 

Any updates from anyone?

 

Doubt we will hear anything for a while. I'm eagerly awaiting.

 

Hopefully in the new year/spring

 

They are really pushing the FJ and 5th gen 4runner supercharger now. It comes out in a couple weeks.

It's like Groundhog Day with no boost

 

Two days ago I had a chance to talk with a master tech from Southeast Toyota who has been there for over 30 years. He said that he has actually seen and has had his hands on the new Magnuson supercharger for the 3rd gen. Apparently they were asking him about one of the issues they were having but he would not go into detail. He also did not know when they would be releasing it to the public.
