From what I read in the Magnuson supercharger thread, the stock Maggie tune has got less torque at low rpms than SFOB without the supercharger.

LED interior, license plate, and fog lights. More to come.
And the cylinders get up to temp. Usually you leave a little looser cylinder wall to piston clearance on a boosted application.

I had a TRD SC on my first gen. It did have more power, but it I dang sure wouldn't put one one a 3G. IMO, if you want to rip, go buy a HEMI. I'm perfectly content with the power in the NA 3.5; especially the manual.

I never suggest a SC on a taco, I would have suggested a Tundra... with a SC

You usually open up the ring gap for boost.

You mean v6 power with the same reliability and resale as a supercharged Tacoma?

I am more of a normally aspirated engine person myself.
Either it be my past All Motor built Hondas or my inline 6 BMW M3 or even my V8 Sequoia.
You got to love the simplicity of a well engineered and built normally aspirated engine.
Less things to go wrong or leak or maintain.

Absolutely, and the type of piston determines the piston to wall clearance. I have built a lot of boosted engines and I prefer a forged 4032 alloy piston over 2618 because of slightly higher silicon content..... meaning you can run a 4032 alloy a bit tighter.

I'll probably get flamed for this but IMHO, if your truck is so underpowered for the application you bought it for that you need a mod that approaches 30% of the cost of the truck, you bought the wrong truck to begin with.

the 87mm pulley drives very nice on the original Magnuson software. It drives even better on the Yotawerx Stryker tune though. A few times during testing I flashed back to the Magnuson file so I could remember how great it was o_O

For that price you'd be better off swapping in an LSX.

Can’t agree more. It’s no race truck but it’s been a fun and solid add but def not for the faint. For the folks that are not afraid to mod an extra 100 HP or more is nice.

I've been back and forth on the blower option, sure it's cool but...damn, that's a lot of money for...for what really?

For less than the cost of an Mag SC, I have lift, tires, winch& bumper, camper shell, and tune. These parts do so much more for me on a daily basis than just some more HP alone. Could mine be more speedy? Absolutely! But it's not awful.

And when I'm ready for more power, I'll have 4:88's installed for $3-4K. My total then will be more than the cost of SC but, not by much I will have already had all the other cool stuff for my money,

The Magnusson was nice but it didn’t scratch the itch. If I lived closer to sea level I might still have the Tacoma as the power increase was much, much more noticeable when visiting friends down there. At 6000+ feet it was a bit underwhelming.

The thing that you're gonna find there is that all the increased dead weight and aero drag over our existing brick in the air is that acceleration is going to take a big hit. Gears will certainly help, but after driving a couple S/C'ed Tacos (one AT on stock gears and an MT, both on E-rated 33s), the party trick is the torque right off idle. That is useful on a daily basis also.

On the flip, I was so damn thankful that I had no regrets getting back into my own Taco. If I were to add significant weight or ever get a travel trailer, those feelings might change.

As a point of reference, I rolled through some certified scales with just me and a full tank. Registered 4,920lb.

4.88s are great for restoring off-the-line grunt. In fact, they give you grunt that was never there to begin with.
