I still need to add a fuel cell, more skids, and rock sliders to finish my truck. That will just about do it for me for added weight, not including gear of course. When these get done, the 4:88 gears are going to be needed..

PS: These new things aren't done only because i'm trying to pay it off this month!:fingerscrossed:

If you have 33 or larger, go with 5.29. you will be much happier in the 3rd gen

I felt this way when I was running the Magnuson Tune. Night and day difference with the YotaWerx Stryker tune. Plenty of power and drivability is awesome. If I had to continue with the Magnuson Tune I'd move on to a full size truck with a V8 too :)

Love my Magnuson with the Stryker tune.

Isn’t for everyone but the Tacoma’s a Tacoma, gotta face the facts.

I can sort of understand why people would want to install one but the cost is a BIG no thank you for me. If I'm going to spend that sort of money to increase the performance it wont be on the tacoma but a different vehicle. With that said though I did/do like the set up lf the pro charger that is now available for tacomas. Be cool to have and a neat 'wow' factor.

What's the difference between the maggy and procharger?

It's the style of supercharger. The Maggy is an Eaton TVS (what comes stock on a lot of cars) and uses two rotors to compress the air. They typically sit where the intake manifold would be and replace it.

A procharger is a centrifugal style and is usually bolted to the front of the engine and keeps the stock intake. You can think of this as basically a belt driven turbo.

Nice pic! Have you added any gauges? What altitude are you at and what pulley size are you running now?

I just finished up installing a Magnuson kit on my 22 OR and am impressed with the fit and finish. They did a great job. I've got Innovate AFR and Boost gauges to hook up to see how the charger is performing. I'm at 3500' and wondering if a smaller pulley would be a good move to compensate.

I'm very interested in learning more about the other tunes people are using. I used a scan tool to watch lamba and am feeling like the Magnuson tune is quite conservative and very lean when in vaccum, maybe to get their carb cert at the cost of power.

Being that this is a “set it and forget it” type thing no gauges, running the provided pulley with the kit and the Stryker tune for better driveability/response.

80/20 rule, I’ve gone down the 20% road enough times now to know that usually the 80% is all you need

edit: My 650whp TT C63 isn’t running a boost gauge either. Don’t see the value in it once tuned. Key is a good tuner

Standard curb weight is like 4400 or something, yeah? Where did the extra weight come from?

EDIT** I've been curious to weigh my truck since adding everything to it. Skid plates, rock sliders, bed and cab rack, tools, the heavier tires and leaf springs, etc. Just loaded down with gear.

Most double cabs are sitting around 4600lbs curb weight. Your truck is probably just about at the GVWR with a couple people in it. The low payload on these trucks gets eaten up really quickly.

I hate to hear of it man, that’s a lot of money to drop and regret it. But, at the end of the day it’s still a Tacoma. They’re only ever going to be reliable and kinda slow I feel

Running 33s, 5.29, the supercharger and a Stryker tune

Having done all these mods incrementally I can tell you without a fact that the striker tune has the most positive impact on not only performance but driving characteristic. This truck finally uses the right gear at the right time and it can pull up hills at 2k rpm.

Was it worth the money? Probably not. Do I regret it? Nah :)

Does it have to be a Coyote?

    Will a 331 Stroker work?

Well, I'm about 240lb with clothes, there is about 150lb in the bed with the bed mat, case with recovery gear and a bunch of other stuff, and the Softopper, the TRD skid, other mods, heavier tires, a decent amount of stuff stored in the interior, and some accumulated grime. So, the 500lb makes sense.

    Heavier leafs here also.

I'm actually pretty pleased with that weight.

    Lol

The 2GR 3.5 IS a performance engine in multiple other models, Tacoma not being one of them.
