Hi All, long time lurker. I know there's a bunch of So Cal people on this forum, so wanted to see if anybody had been up Main Divide lately. I've got a Prerunner TRD OR and a buddy with a 2WD Ram that likes banging up and down the road to Holy Jim, but I'd like to hit something a bit longer and a bit more fun. I've got the stock e-locker, but he's open diff, so wondering if we'd have any problems hitting the main divide? Looks like it's fairly packed fireroad, but with the way the weather was this winter I'm wondering if it's sandier than usual. Any thoughts?

What is 'main divide' and where is 'Holy Jim'?? I have lived in Southern Cal since 1957, and don't know those places (at least by those names). Thank you!

Main Divide is the road that runs from Silverado to Corona.

I've kinda checked around but most of the reports I've seen are 1-2 years old and mostly from people with 4x4. Guess we'll just have to go check it out and see what happens. Hopefully we don't run across anything we can't get over.

Corolla friendly eh? Holy Jim is barely Corolla friendly and it's a "graded" road. ;)

Have you been up recently? I'm more concerned with what the roads look like after all the rain we've had this year. I seriously doubt they get up there and fix that road too often.

Was thinking about that last night, the more the merrier. Won't be this weekend because I have to fix fork seals on my bike, but possibly the week after? Have to check with my buddy, I know he gets his kids for a week here pretty soon, just not sure which week it is.

All fire roads are starting to be graded by the us forest service due to the firew season coming around! at least all the ones down here are starting to be!

Thanks for all the info guys. At this point in time it'll be at least two weeks before we can get up there, so hopefully we can get some info about it being open before we go. When I get a firm date I'll post it up so any So Cal guys that want to go are welcome to join up.

    In progress :/
The last time I went on main divide I saw a Chevy Astro mini-van and a car (don't remember the make and model) driving there. This was last year. I also did not have to get out of 4Hi for the entire trail. Never tried any of the bypasses, although most should be shut down by the forest service. So "Corolla friendly" is correct in this case.

If you are planning a run, post it up in the SoCal forum. I am sure I would join you, and so will others.
