I'm heading up to Maine the week of the 29th toward the Bangor area. I'll be camping for that week somewhere off Stud Mill Rd (from Milford). If anyone in the area wants to join or meet up there, it'd be pretty sweet. I can bring up extra camping gear and will have food and lots of drinky. There's a ton of good places to wheel, some better for lifted trucks, some more stock-friendly.

    Anyone interested?

It's east of Bangor (Stud Mill Rd). It's a few thousand acres of logging forest, with dirt roads and rustic camping. You don't have to pay to get in like Baxter State Park, and Acadia is nuts this time of year with slow driving tourists.

I grew up 30 minutes from Bangor.
I always bought a season pass to the Northern Maine Woods and went there. North of Greenville. I know what your talking about on the coast though. Always loved the sunrise on Cadilac Mtn.

The North Maine woods is pretty sweet too! I used to always go up there, by Jackman and the Golden Rd/Spencer Rd. Apparently the cost of the NMW is pretty expensive now though too.

Acadia is great, but not so much for going off-road and camping for free. I love it if I want to be lazy though. The Stud Mill Rd area is great though, because it's not too far from Mt. Desert, and I usually stop there on the way back down.
