I've never been up Old Speck on a day that it wasn't windy and cold a the top. Must have been good color, though?

got my new tires today.. and spent the rest of the day searching every auto shop for some extended thread lug nuts with a 60degree taper for the rims... NONE to be found.. luckily I had the set of extended thread nuts for the spacers I had installed on the stock rims.. they fit for now, however look ugly.. and will be replaced once I get a set I like through Amazon..

I love the 3rd Gen we just picked up at Downeast. Anyone have thoughts as to which of the central Maine dealers have the best technicians? We have a couple years of free maintenance that came with a 2018 TRD off-road purchased with 5K miles.

How do you like you’re RTT set up on the low bars? Seems like it would make accessing the bed a bit tricky. I haven’t figured out how I would like to do mine/ and keep the cover too.

I know one of the service writers at Central Maine Toyota (I used to work with him), Darryl Poulin, and he has told me a few times that they've got a good crew there. But Waterville might be a bit of a haul for you just to have some service work done.

Anyone in the ~hour radius of Augusta that do their own service? I'm up on the 60k interval ('17 SR5 4wd) and while I'm sure i could do all the servicing solo, I'd prefer to have the oversight/guidance of someone who is more experienced the first go around.

I've changed the oil & coolant in my last Tacoma ('99 PreRunner) but never did the diff, tranny (TC for obvious reasons) or driveshaft servicing. These items look straight forward from what I've read on here and seen on youtube but again, would nice to meet up with someone that is familiar with what all is involved and enjoys working on their own vehicles.

More than happy to throw in some beer and/or a few $$ for your time too.

    Mahalo!

What are you looking to do for the 60k service? I did both diffs, T-case, power steering, and spark plugs as part of mine. Plus the usual engine oil and driveshaft greasing. I didnt know what the previous owner did or didnt do, so figured I would be thorough.

That is exactly what I'm looking to do. Will probably do the oil and plugs Saturday.

Right on. Not sure what its like to replace spark plugs on a 3rd gen.

Gear oil in T-case and diffs wasnt too bad. Just make sure you can get the fill plugs loose before you pull the drain plug haha. You might want to consider new crush washers for all the plugs as well.

Not sure Ill be around at all this weekend otherwise Id offer to help

No worries. I'm helping my parents Saturday morning and not sure how long that'll take so only planning to do the plugs & oil afterwards. Will get more familiar with the TC & diffs while under it doing the oil.

Now I feel like a fool--remembered when I had the oil changed at the dealer @ 50k they took me for the TC and both diffs. Still want to learn to do those but won't be due for a while.

Thought the manual was in the truck but wasn't so will need to locate in the house but the dealer's site (and several posts on here) say plugs on the V6 2GR-FKS every 60k.

I have dealt with Downeast for several vehicles and more then a decade. They have been very fair to me. I can’t say they are cheap, but no dealership is. I can give you several instances where I told them their price was too high for the part or job I needed and they happily gave me other options. I can’t complain about the work done as I just seldom had major issues with my Toyotas. I also never fall for the expensive 30k,60k checks.....

Just recently had my truck serviced, they told me it was time for my plugs (30k), then called me later to tell me they replaced them, but realized they were not due till 120k. I still haven’t checked the book to verify, but the dealership wouldn’t have given them to me for free if they weren’t pretty sure.
