I hear you. Because I live in the area and have bought more then a few Toyotas from them, I still have to pay retail for parts from the counter, but I negotiate service and parts otherwise. For example, they quoted me a price for a broken mirror one time and broken leaf spring another. I told them I did not want to pay their price and they told me a place I could have the spring fabricated in the next town and a local glass shop that could order me an after market mirror for a lot less. It's always been the same for a long time. They always tell me options for other parts when I don't want to pay their price. Really. I find that too with most dealers. At the counter they don't know how to respond when you say you don't want to pay their price so " tell me where else I can go to get a better deal. " the guys who work there will just start helping you. The are on the business and now the other options for thier cares too.

I even mail orders one off steel winter rims form Ohio I got a heck of a deal on through their suggestions. It saved me $50 per wheel doing it this way.
Or course, I always tell the dealer General manager whom I have been on speaking terms with for over decade, how happy I am with their help, shovel a little shit and everyone goes away happy.

Looks like spring is here, where do you guys like to explore in sothern Maine. It's easy to find places up north but I dont see much around here that isn't posted or blocked off. Sebago Lake area. Looking for some short day rides maybe even a single good road/trail. Thanks

I know nothing down that way and I grew up down there. That's part of the reason I love northern Maine so much!

Too many people tearing up private property is why. Too many people aren't content to just drive down a path; they have to try and get stuck. It gets really old for a property owner to have to regrade their road 3 or 4 times a year because people are wrecking it.
My parents used to leave the road to their maple orchard open year round, but started gating it after the third bozo in a lifted pickup got himself sunk to the frame rails trying to go down it during mud season.
    Presto, Gate-o.

Too bad, because lots of people just like exploring. I've certainly logged my fair share of miles on logging roads over the years, just because I wanted to see where they went.

Years ago (back in the 90's) we used to cross the border in Calais and run the fire roads and logging roads off Rt9. Years and days of wilderness off the Airline.

We live in the woods and people drive in and out exploring. That's fine. But it pisses me off when they drive in and out of the ditches just to show off. The next rain, the water runs down the road and tears it up and I have to take my tractor and regrade the road before too much of the gravel is lost in the woods at the bottom of a hill. 4 wheel drivers can be inconsiderate.

epicxcrider is, or was, an FJNE member who is from Maine originally. Now lives on the Northern West Coast. Nick is a modern day adventurer to say the least. That trip in Northern Maine was pretty epic. Our forum members got to watch his daily entries about the adventure they were on. The guy can write.

Quick question - I'm heading up to NMW in early June (Libby's Brown pond cabin). I'll be heading up 95 to Sherman or Island Falls...then up 11 and over via Oxbow Rd. Haven't been this way in over 10 yrs. I usually enter NMW via Telos, 20 Mile or Sias Hill (I still call it that even though it moved) gates.

Can I top off my truck beyond East Millinocket/Medway?

I see there's an Irving in Sherman. That'll do.

Sorry I couldn't answer you soon enough Mark. We normally go up thru Greenville/Kokadjo or thru Pittston Farms to enter the great North Maine Woods.
