Very nice! Where in maine? I have passed on a couple questionable shots that I didn’t feel confident in due to thick growth and moving deer. Last Saturday i fired at a decent buck just before closing. He was about 200 yards. I checked for blood and decided to go back Sunday am to check things out in the light. My bullet grazed a tree about 25 ft from where i fired from. My heart sank when I saw that!

Yes it is my in laws place. Just south of the capital road on rt 201. Were you tracking or still hunting? Snow looks a little thin for ideal tracking. The big ones go down hard. I put a 180gr in outnof a 300 short mag straight through the brisket of a180~ 10pt a couple years ago at 20 yards he still managed to take off running. Fired again took him in the neck and one more Low in the front shoulder before he dropped. Had I known my first shot was good I wouldn’t have fired again but buck fever may have gotten to me a little on that one!

@Grand dude here is a pic of the massive 10 my father in law shot Monday. We were about 300 yards apart when he fired. I’m prettt sure it’s the buck I fouled my shot on a couple weeks ago. 99652EE7-B7D7-4636-A3E2-0BD10052C000.jpg

Putting out another feeler - I'd like to replace the front & rear shocks on my 2011 TRD O/R this spring (I'll be at 100K miles so it's time). Either going with 5100's set to zero or straight OEM replacement. Not something I'd tackle by myself (nor do I have the room & tools), but would love to get my hands dirty learning how to do it. Willing to barter, buy pizza & beer....anything reasonable.

Anyone within an hour of Portland willing to lend a hand?

Rears are easy; it's the fronts that are a pain. I usually pay to have them replaced because of it, and the fact that you've got to get the truck lined up afterwards. It's so much easier (and less nerve-wracking) to do them in a hydraulic press in a shop than it is to use those strut compressor tools that you can rent/borrow from the local parts store. I've got garage space, tools, and experience I can lend for the rears if nobody takes you up on the challenge to do all 4, but you can deal me out on the fronts, I'm afraid.

Right...I forgot about the fact that springs need to be swapped out and the danger associated with that...I had a straight swap in my tiny brain.

Thanks so much for the offer on the rears...I'll take you up on that offer! I'll reach out in a few weeks to make arrangements!

Yeah, not like the good old days with this beast where you just undo a pair of mounting points and pull them off.

No damn snow left. Sucks; all that's out there is ice and dirt. My back yard is a skating rink, which makes bringing in firewood a lot of fun with a wheelbarrow. It's slick enough that this weekend I cheated and used the new tractor just because it's more stable.
