I drove from MD to TX this past weekend, and once I got here I decided to do an oil change, figuring 1500+ miles of highway driving, it was better to do one then to wait until I got home and do it after 3500+ miles of driving over the holidays.

Anyway, did what I always do, changed the oil, put new oil/filter, replaced the drain plug, and took it for a test drive after it was all done. Just noticed that my "Maint Req'd" light just came on, everything seems to be working just fine. Any ideas?

I have a 2006 DCSB 4x4 V6 Tacoma TRD Off Road, if that makes a difference.

It is programmed to come on every x number of miles. I think 3500? Just reset it and your fine.

Ok, how do I do that? Also if I am concerned more than I should be, would the dealership run their tool on it?

THANKS, you are making me much less worried, I hate when things don't work right, makes me overly concerned.

    Yea like that ^
Dealer can run it but you probably don't have any issues.

there is a procedure in the owners manual for this...

IIRC, put ODO on miles, ignition on, do NOT start engine, hold reset button until bars go away...takes about 30 seconds.

also, only US trucks have this "feature"

I bought the truck at 97k miles and it now has 102k, so this is my first 4500 miles, and my second oil change, and I had not read or heard of this "feature"...

    Thanks

It's in your owners manual how to reset it.

When you reach 4500 miles since the last reset, the light will BLINK several times when you start the truck up - it will go out.

At 5000 miles, it'll stay on constant.

Ther is a difference between the maintence required light and the check engine light.
