Good to know. Still curious what made that light just come on while driving down the road.

The Maint Light comes on flashing (for a few seconds on startup) when you have reached 4500 miles since the last time it was reset.
The Maint Light comes on solid and STAYS ON when you reach 5000 miles since last reset.

Yes I'm at 60k and well aware of how the light works. However, this time there was no flashing on start up. It was off since I reset at the last oil change. While driving down the road (at night because it was more noticeable) the light just came on and stayed on till I reset it again. Kinda sucks because I was relying on that to do my next oil change.

That's new. Any chance you just didn't notice it on start up? Maybe someone else has had similar experience.

Definitely sure it didn't do it on start up. We had just got off the bridge going into Nags Head and it popped on. I thought the drain plug had come out or something but everything checked out fine. i do notice that the air pump doesn't go through it cycle on startup anymore but that's a check engine light when emissions equipment fails.

So kind of reviving this thread because it’s the closest to what my question is.
After resetting the light, anyone notice a loss in power, like the ecu is put into a “break in” period for the first 500 miles with new oil?
I’ve changed my oil myself many many times, and maybe I just didn’t notice it then, but it’s sluggish now, kind of like when you pull the battery to reset the TCU.

No. It doesn't work that way at all.

It is just an indicator LED and nothing more.

Hmm weird, because it definitely had a loss of power and transmission timing changed for a little bit and now it’s back to normal.

How did you measure this loss of power and change in transmission timing?

    Curious...

My 100k+ miles of driving the truck vs what I’ve noticed in the last 24 hour's, my multiple tcu resets in the past and how the engine and transmission reacts to my throttle input after a reset. I didn’t pull the battery, so nothing was reset. I did a simple oil change, reset the light, and drove and it clearly had a loss in power and transmission timing was “retarded” to an extent.
Do you have any viable input to my concern or are you just looking for a reaction?

Just saying that a Butt Dyno is not a valid measurement tool.

Resetting the "Maint" LED will not change the transmission timing or create a loss of power.

You could have something else going on, but it isn't the Maint LED reset.

Definitely not just butt dyno I’m feeling so something else must be wrong.

See if you can use a scantool, you might have a pending code that hasn't tripped the CEL yet

I did but I’ve had them for a while, 2 CELs, gas cap, which I’ve changed, and it looks like my evap pump is stuck open so when it does a pressure test after 5 hours of sitting, the CEL resets, but I’ve had these both for over a month, way before I started having trans issues now.
Maybe it’s just a coincidence but this came after my oil change and resetting the maintenance light, so that’s why I’m skeptical.

Could be they're getting worse too, my wife's Rav4 had a big time power loss with an evap leak if I remember right. Might as well fix them anyway.

I need to find the part numbers for the pump though, I’ve been searching for a while. I know I could get them off the pump itself but it’s a DD for me so kind of hard to take it apart and have it sit while I wait for the part.

Just bought it. Intermittent wiper switch.
Thanks, guys. This worked like a charm on my 2014. It was on when I bought it. I had the dealer give me an oil change. The light was still on when I picked it up and I figured that the oil service place missed it. I got the Hayes manual and went through the procedure listed there and the light stayed on... "crap", me thinks. So, tonight, I googled it and found this thread. Using Trip A is the solution. I'll train my oil change guys next time I go in.
