Maint. Required light

Dealership probably didn't reset Maintenance light because it hadn't come on yet. He had oil change done at 3000 miles.

 

Exactly, i was waiting for someone to say that. it has to be on steady for it to be reset. And that only happens at every 5000 miles.

 

Do not concur with the "has to be on steady part" Pretty sure you can reset it early if you want.

I did a late oil change and wanted to get back onto schedule...so I changed my oil again in about 3800 miles....and reset the light- Just started blinking- Right on sked for a 5K interval...

It's just a counter 0-4500.....If you reset- You are making it back to 0....and it starts counting...

 

Yes, you can reset the light before it goes steady. Don't know if it can be done before it shows at all, but I don't see why not. Just thinking that the dealer didn't even try because it wasn't lit in the first place.

 

If it works the same as an FJ, you can reset it anytime, whether it's on or not.
