    Hello,

I have a 2013 Tacoma and just did an oil change ahead of schedule. I have followed every guide and video on the subject to reset the maintenance count down.

I turn key to off, set trip to A, kept odometer reset button pressed down, and turn key to on. Nothing happens... no count down, no change. Just sits there.

I tried several combinations, took key out, held for several seconds. Still nothing.

    Any Ideas?

Try odometer and trip A. Stick the key in, hold down the reset button. To key to key on engine off and it should take. Do not release the reset button while turning the key

I think you have to go back to odometer

On my 2010 I had to be on odo as well. Put it on odo, hold the button down, keep holding the button down while turning the key to the "on" position (don't start it). A series of dashes will flash. When it does, they will go down to no dashes left. Keep holding till it flashes the zeros, that means the maintenance interval is reset.

    1. Turn the ignition key to the "OFF" position with the odometer reading shown (For details, see "Odometer and two trip meters" on page 143 in this Section.) (Note 2: 2011 + models require using the TRIP A reading)

You can't set to A with the key off.

    ************************************************

    Procedure:

Set to A with key on/truck running

    Turn key to off/lock position

While pressing the ODO/Trip button, turn the key to the on position

Hold ODO/trip button until display is 000000

    *********************************************

This is from page 323 of my '13 owners manual. Works for me.

Yes. Just did the reset on Saturday after Oil/Filter change, and worked like a charm.

Did you follow the steps Clearwater Bill posted exactly? This is how I reset the light on my 2012.

Yes it is, I'm pretty mechanically inclined so I'm not sure what I am missing. Do your trucks odometer turn on while key is in off position if you press the reset button? Might be related to the remote start in my truck or something.

Set to A with key on/truck running

    Turn key to off/lock position

While pressing the ODO/Trip button, turn the key to the on position

Hold ODO/trip button until display is 000000

Try turning the key on without starting, then cycle the odometer all the way around to trip A, turn key off. Then, push in and hold the button in, then turn the key to on. The odometer should show _ _ _ _ _ . The lines should start blinking, with one line disappearing with each blink. When all the lines are gone it should come up ooooo, then blink and show whatever mileage you had on trip a when you started the reset, and the maintenance light should go out.

I just have one question, does your odometer illuminate when the key in the the off position when you push the odometer reset button, mine shows the odometer readings when the key is in the off position. If I push mine in, I can cycle through odometer/A/B with the truck off. If I open the door, then the display shuts off.

Also I am setting the truck the ON position (two clicks forward) and not ACC (1 click).

I have tried a few different ways, I'll have to stop by the dealership, I think my remote starter is doing something

Are you holding the reset button down when you turn the key back to on or just pressing it? You have to hold it down.

Where are you located? Maybe someone local can give it a shot and save you a trip to the dealer?

I am holding it down. I've watched several videos and from what I can tell, I am doing the exact same thing. My maintenance light is not on, does this only work when the light is on, or can someone do it at anytime to reset the counter based on when the oil change was done? I'm in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
