I've posted already about credit union extended warranties, so I searched to see if this has been brought up and couldn't find anything. Is $700 a rip off for 72 months/85,000 miles maintenance plan through Toyota? I'm wanting to know if anyone here has had any experience with these? Thanks in advance. Obviously I'm not a DIY, nor do I care to be. But admire those who are.

Does it just include oil changes?
Or does it include the major services?

I got coupon book in mail for every 5,000 miles to 85k. I'll have to look at maintenance manual and compare. Looks like oil changes, fluids, tire rotations, etc... This is why I posted, hoping someone else on here has an idea.

If it includes oil changes, it's a good deal.

It's like 6 oil changes, an air filter, a few cabin air filters and tire rotations/inspections/checking torque etc. And that is if they do everything listed. The first 25k is already covered by TC. I don't know if I would call it a "good" deal.

Sounds like a good deal if it includes the maintenance not covered by TC... male sure its a Toyota plan, not some 3rd party.

There is almost never anything offered by a dealer that is a 'good deal'.

To evaluate the offer, you need to know exactly what is included, and what those same items would cost you for a quality independent mechanic to do. (not Jiffy Lube, Firestone or other chains)

Mostly they want you in the door so they can give you a list of what else is 'wrong' or 'due' so they can upsell you with a bit of panic.

72 months is what I will base this off of. That works out to be 12 visits, 6 of which are real service and 6 is just tire rotations and fluid level check, or as we call it, sunshine service.
That equates to roughly 58 dollars per visit. However, the sunshine service should only be about a 30 dollar value. So 30x6 is 180.
    700 -180 is 520. 520 ÷ 6 =86 dollars for oil change/full service.
Now, you didn't mention when this kicks in, this is under the assumption it is after the free 24 months Toyota care. If they are starting this from the time you bought the truck and you are not getting the 24 months free, leave it alone because they are trying to double dip.

Consider it only oil and tire rotations unless it specifically says otherwise.

Everything else that actually matters (differential fluid, coolant, transmission fluid, ujoints, etc) are all special maintenance items that probably cost extra.

This starts at 30,000 miles, immediately after the free Toyota 2 year deal. And yes, it's from Toyota, not third party, just got pamplet book with tickets in mail yesterday. From my understanding it covers everything that's required in owners manual through 85,000 miles or 72 months. For me, the 72 months will come before 85,000 miles.

If all that stuff is actually included that doesn't sound like a horrible deal. Especially if you're not mechanically inclined.

Judging by the manual service intervals, it's a fair deal for all mandatory items but that's it.

I'd pass on it however if you plan on early oil changes and more preventable items.

Is it a rip off? No. Are they making money by selling it? Yes.

If you pay for the services over time out of your own pocket, will it be less or more than the cost of the package for those same services? Simple math. Just plug and chug. My guess is that paying for the package will cost you more than paying out of pocket for the services as you go.

Just asking others thoughts. I can cancel for full refund if I want. I think I'm keeping because when you add everything that they do over that time period I believe it would cost more.

Doubtful, not at dealership. Maybe at crappy place down street. But you might be right. This us something that will be used for sure unlike extended warranty, more of gamble.

Does anyone have the break out of Toyota Care service increments and price of each required out to 72 months/85k miles? Subtract the first 2 years/24k miles that are provided with purchase when calculating. If the package costs more than the difference, it isn't a good deal.
