I reset mine, but it couldn't use the procedure in the manual to do so. It states:

    upload_2022-10-8_12-4-59.jpg

I had to press and hold the trip reset until the odometer mileage displayed.
Then, while continuing to hold the trip reset turned the truck on. Maybe I
didn't need to actually turn it on, but after a few seconds the trip meter s
showed - - and the light went off. Instructions say 'Turn the ignition key to
the "OFF" position with the odometer reading shown. Mine did not show in
the OFF position until I pressed and held the trip reset. Just wondering if
others have followed the procedure from the manual successfully? I made
a note for reference for next time. I had the oil changed less than 2 months
ago, the Maintenance light was not on at the time.

On mine I think it has to be set to TRIP A before I hold down the button and rotate the key forward. Some other Toyota models require TRIP B.

Ok - It does seem there may be slight differences from the manual's instructions.

Just search for it on YouTube, it’s a lot easier if you see it on video instead of reading it from a manual.

Good reference, different that the manual's and what I did. Says to turn the ignition to where the odometer displays. press and hold the trip reset while turning the ignition off and back on again.

On my 08 Tacoma, I just had the press the odometer button and keep it pressed while turning the ignition to on, but not starting the truck. If I remember correctly, the odometer showed dashes for a few seconds while it resets. My 4Runner is the same, except I have to be on either Trip A or B when I reset.

Standard reset procedure on every Toyota vehicle I've ever dealt with that has a digital segment odometer is to set it to the appropriate display (Odometer, Trip A, or Trip B depending on the model), turn the key off, hold the trip button in while turning the key on, and wait until the dashes count down and the display shows 000000

I've made note of these for next time. Different than the manual shows but straightforward, actually less steps than other vehicles I've had.

I wonder how we got by years ago without YouTube. Or GPS.
