My "Maintenance Required" light came on. I took it to the auto parts store thinking he could pull out the code only to find that I confused it with my check engine light so of course no code. Give me a break, it's my first taco. He said it probably needs an oil change. Is he right?

Mostly stock for now, I have added a cb radio, various cheap mods and I plan on adding aftermarket wheels and other items in the future.
Most likely, how many miles has it been since your last oil change?

Mine just came on when I hit 5000K. Time for an oil change.

It's been about 4000 miles since the last oil change.

put keys in ignition and turn forward, but do not start. hold down the trip reset button in dash until bars flash across screen. keep holding until they go away in a few seconds. that should do it. if thats not it, hold down button then turn ignition. i forget which it is.

Yep, change the oil with Mobil 1, and reset the meter.
A how-to is also in the manual.

Thanks for the info. Now I know. I'm changing the oil.

And just in case it isn't obvious, the oil change warning system starts coming on 5000 miles after the last time you reset it, not 5000 miles after the oil change. It doesn't know you changed the oil.
