I have a 2020 SR5 and finally checked into the maintenance schedule - I'm at 68k miles now, so guess I need to look at the 60k maintenance. Definitely need cabin air filter and engine air filter and would like all the other items checked (don't feel like doing it myself). Do y'all take it to the Toyota dealership on this or to your local mechanic?

It's a mixed bag here. Or any car forum really.

Depends on how good your local dealer is and if you're willing to pay more for basic services.

Depends on if you are in warranty and believe that having the work done there is a form of protection in case warranty is needed.

Having a quality independent is always nice. You get to speak directly to the techs most times and have lower prices. A good one will be honest enough to tell you when there is a specific task they may not have equipment to perform and point you to Toyota. An example might be a master cylinder replacement that needs TechStream to bleed the ABS properly.

In my personal case I rarely buy things in warranty, and rarely via a dealer. So the dealer sees me for recalls, special service campaigns or an occasional extended warranty item, like repainting my white RAV.

My interdependent sees me when I don't have the skill, tools, energy or time to do something.
