Ok, our bullshit has been called out. The Tacoma is actually trash. Lets all trade em in. I just called the dealership. They’re only offering me $10,500 for my 2019 4x4 with 7,400 miles. This article must be the real deal.
They said that if it was a 2017 with fewer that 120,000 miles they could offer $67,000

What’s funny is if you click on the carcomplaints link in the article you see how reliable the 2018 Tacoma actually is! The “engine issues”, only 20 reported (a low number) 13 of those are actually “speed control”. Article is a joke.

The only thing worse than that article is the fact that people like yourself actually somehow find this shit and read it. Then feel the need to post about it. Your giving this idiot “journalist” views which is translating into ad space and what not and just allowing this moron to continue his “career” thus allowing him to continue these shenanigans.

I guess the statement about the 2018 engine being “immensely faulty” also applies to every 3gen engine from ‘16 to ‘20.

What does the reviewer know that we don’t? :rasta:

    None... yet.
Probably less than that. When I was just out of college and earning very little, I (very briefly ) looked at content farm job postings as a way to earn extra money. They varied slightly, but they usually give a headline, a list of keywords and maybe a target density, and a word count target. At first, I was like "awesome, this is an easy way to earn some cash on the side!" But then I discovered the rates they were paying: like a few bucks a post--rates so low, that even to my broke 21-year-old self, they simply didn't make sense; even if you blindly wrote the whole thing without doing an iota of research, you'd end up earning far below minimum wage. So... yeah. If the author did a half hour of research, the poor bastard's almost certainly losing money.

The thing about that kind of crap is that it's not written for humans: its intended audiences are algorithms. The people who published that BS don't care about anyone reading it or agreeing with it--just getting it noticed by enough aggregators that plenty of people click on it. If the readers are disgusted with the horrible quality of the writing, they don't care. They're not trying to build a reputation or social cache. The whole point of that post is to have enough keywords and images and a catchy enough headline to get caught by Google News and Facebook and Apple News to improve their metrics so they can earn slightly higher ad revenue. As long as they get reposted in the right places, they'll get enough clicks and views to more than make back the insultingly low amount they paid some poor unemployed recent grad to write it, and then some. It's really an awful system.

That list pretty much includes all manufacturers. It should have been titled "Trucks crumble under pressure". Probably written by a gas guzzling truck hater.

It’s specifically the 2018 that was immensely weak and faulty. Except for maybe @GillyLink . I think he got a 2017 motor in his.

I just wonder what separates a 2018 engine from a 2017 or 2019? If it’s such an immense problem, what’s the weakness? What’s the fault? We need to know so we can get selling our 2018s.

    Not!

Plastic pushrods was the big difference.

So they just tried it out in 2018? How many reports of failures due to plastic push rods?
