Have you gotten in contact with the place that sold you the contaminated gasoline? Seems like they'd be on the hook for at least some of the cost.

It says if using above 89 to research it first - which means that not all 91 is good for your truck. At least that's my interpretation.

    See above response to OZ.

No anger man. I just find it ridiculous when someone responds to a post with a one worded "Wrong". It's disrespectful, sorry you can't if you can't understand that.

And no, my job, which is awesome, drug tests so even though it's legal to buy weed now, I can't. But I will take your advice on the butthurt thread when I'm feeling butthurt.

Sorry, but your interpretation is incorrect. This is what it says in the owners manual:

The part where it says " Research Octane Number 91 or Higher " doesn't mean for you to research the octane of the gasoline.

Here is an explaination of " Research Octane Number ":

    http://chemistry.about.com/cs/howthingswork/a/aa070401a_2.htm

The octane number you see at the pump is the average of the MON and RON. 87 octane gasoline has a Research Octane Number ( RON ) of 91 and a Motor Octane Rating ( MOR ) of 83. the average ( RON + MON / 2 ) is 87 Octane and that is what they post at the pump. I don't know if they still do it, but look at the Octane sticker at the pump next time you fill up and you should see the formula for the Octane as above " R+M/2 " on the sticker.

What the manual says is to use 87 Posted Octane which is equvalant to a 91 Octane RON ( Research Octane Number ) or higher.

I hope this helps you understand.

ROFLMAO - You thought it meant to research the octane!? OMG my stomach hurts from laughing...

OP...please check fuel flow first before spending lots of money. Chances are it's a fuel delivery issue. Also clean your MAF sensor...a spray bottle of MAF cleaner is under 10 bucks.

You're misquoting the owners manual. It's written like this:

Unleaded gasoline, Octane Rating 87(Research Octane Number 91) or higher.

Reads quite a bit differently with the parenthesis added. The original way it's written means higher octane is perfectly fine. It used to be written in some Toyota manuals that higher octane gas will improve engine performance.

    Nope.
Running higher octane is like having after burners on constantly!
Just like running with the windows up and the air cond. off....

Thanks Jimmy for taking the time to clear that up for me - and being cool about it.

    I wasn't sure, that's how I interpreted it. Glad I could give you a laugh I guess. . .

Yeah, I understand what you are saying now also thanks to Jimmy as he was good enough to take the time to explain things.

People just started throwing shit at me without trying to help me understand. Hate that kind of attitude on this forum.

Depends on the distance but I'd limp it home.Let it idle until it nearly runs out.Fill it with fresh gas and run it a while.May not need plugs.I would have spit coffee through the phone on the service manager. Even if it does need plugs.... no way in hell for that kind of money.Do it yourself and never go back to that place.

+1, I think you use like 1/2 gallon per hour at idle.

You can be blunt if you want. But yes I was wrong, really only Beavis was throwing shit, I think I got confused with another thread about oil. So my apologies.

I would like to know how exactly how did I get pissed? The only guy I really gave a hard time, in a wittingly manner for that matter, kept repeatedly complaining about the OP's title of thread, which was uncalled for - so I called him out in a funny way - am I angry for that or is there something wrong with that? I don't think so, sorry you see it that way.

But when I make a comment trying to help people out even if I am wrong, and someone bluntly comments with "Wrong" - and offers no explanation as if I'm not entitled to one and I'm just a douche that doesn't know anything, and then keeps it up - it's insulting. And then said individual then calls me out for being a dick because I called him Butthead, when his name is Beavis - I mean come on.

But I got no beef with you. I've always thought you were a cool dude.

But you are right - I got my threads confused.

Yeah, my second comment to that guy was dicky. Sorry everyone. That's probably why I got that response from Beavis, who I would like to get along with - being a fellow North Westerner all.

    Thanks for heads up.
