If you alter the truck and as a result, increase the chance someone is going to hit you from behind, you are taking a foolish risk.

Keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best.

It'll only be 2 years old in April. I think I owe way too much on it right now for it to be totalled, but we'll see.

I'm actually going to be wiping off the tint today. Got a big roll of paper towels and a can of laquer thinner.

No biggie really, there were a few imperfections in the clear coat anyway, so this gives the opportunity to redo them.

The Tahoe was pretty jammed up too. Did not kill the radiator though.

The bumper was flat, the hood all screwed up, grill crushed.....

The damage is not minor at all.

The bend in the bed is where the bed is cracked and broke. The frame is bent and will require replacing. The entire front end will also be replaced.

Looks to me that the worst part is that Jeff Gordon sticker. Just replace it with a big #18 and most of your problems will be solved. J/K. Glad you're okay.

OK, so State Farm called me today and authorized 100% of the repair work on their nickle. I have an appointment on Friday to leave it at the dealer so they can look it over along with the State Farm estimator.

I stopped by the dealer earlier today and spoke to the guy that runs the collision center. He gave the truck a quick once over (it was raining a bit) abd said the truck will probably be totalled if the frame is damaged/bent. They will do a laser measurment on it Friday to see how bad it is.

He said just to replace the frame alone is about $6,500 (parts and labor).

    We'll see how that goes.....

Anybody know who they make the determination between repair and being totaled?

I was told many years ago that is was the cheaper cost. Repairs cost vs the blue book value of the vehicle. Is that correct?

In Ga if damage cost is past 75% of the vehicles worth than its totaled... use the nada guide to see your trucks worth with the current mileage. Thats what the banks use is nada usually not kbb.

Just out of curiosity have you figured up blue book retail value then take 66-75% to see if you were paid the blue book value if that would pay your truck off?

I have vehicle replacement insurance. Basically in the first five years of ownership they'll give me a new truck after that it'll be the cost of a comparable used truck of the same year.
