So wait...you're saying auto down only, meaning you have to manually roll up your window?
That doesn't sound right, it's either power windows or manual.
Do you mean you depress the switch and release and the window goes down on it's own and then you have to lift the switch with your finger and hold it to raise it up? Thats how mine operates. I guess i never gave it much thought because i have enough strength in my hands to hold it for a few seconds. I prefer to exercise and utilize my body rather than let it all atrophy and rot, out of laziness, BUT THATS JUST ME I'M A UNIQUE CREATURE!

I wonder if there is a recalibrate trick to them, like there are on other vehicles or did they not give the SRs that "option" to torment them?

I have it in my other car so it’s strange holding the button up kinda a hassle.

I’d rather have it push button down and auto up

That’s weird they’d downgrade the windows on an SR5. From a cost perspective it would seem less expensive to use the same parts on all of them.

My off road has auto up.

You sure you don’t just have weak fingers and pulling the switch up far enough to activate auto up?

My '13 5 lug is auto down & hold for up

My '14 RAV Limited is auto up and down

10 years on, apparently trim level still matters

My ‘16 SR was the same, no auto-up. If I had to guess, auto-up requires a sensor to prevent smashing fingers/arms/etc., and it costs enough that it made sense to skip for the trim levels that would mostly be aimed at fleet usage.

    I hate the auto-up or auto-down anyway.

try this, this happened to me after battery change, had to reset the drivers side, to get it to auto up/down mode

    Reset Procedure

    1. Start your Tacoma.
    2. Close all the doors and windows.
    3. Open the window by pressing and holding the window control switch. When the window is fully open, keep the switch pressed for a few seconds.
    4. Close the window by lifting and holding the window control switch. When the window is fully closed, keep the switch held for a few seconds.
Note: Repeat the procedure if the window does not automatically close with one press of the switch. If it still doesn’t work, repeat the procedure without starting the engine and the ignition in ON position. To turn on the ignition in vehicles with start/stop button, press the button without pressing the brake pedal.

    Reset Procedure 2
If the above reset instructions do not work for your Tacoma, then this alternate method may work.

    1. Start your Tacoma.
    2. Close all windows and doors.
    3. Open the window by pressing and holding the window control switch. When the window is fully open, keep the switch pressed for a few seconds. Release the switch, then press it again and hold it for a few seconds.
    4. Close the window by lifting and holding the window control switch. When the window is fully closed, keep the switch held for a few seconds. Release the switch, then pull it upward again and hold it.
    5. The one-touch up and down features will then be fully functional.
Note: If the window still doesn’t automatically close in your Tacoma, repeat the procedure without starting the engine and the ignition in ON position. To turn on the ignition in vehicles with start/stop button, press the button without pressing the brake pedal.
