Make your own underhood light with Rock Light LEDs

Alright, for everyone who paid these are getting packed and shipped over the next day or two! I’m not sure if I’ll do another batch yet, kinda getting burnt out on chasing people down for payments lol

 

Well as a hopeful recipient of a couple of pairs of those, thank you for putting the work in on them.

Installed my underhood lights today. The weather took a turn and the temps drop so I had to rush to complete. When the weather warms a little I'll tidy up the wiring. I'm admittedly OCD about wiring so it takes me way longer than the average bear to wire anything.

I used trailer frame/wire clips to route the wires and a 3/4" grommet where the wire exits the hood and enters the engine bay. I filed out the existing hole in the front of the fender to accept a switch. Posi-Lock connectors were used to make most of the connections. They are reusable so in the event of a component failure it's very easy and quick to swap a new component in.

Thank you for making the light brackets. They worked perfectly!

Finally got my lights installed and wired up. Amazon kept having issues delivering my inline fuse and I was picky about the switch I wanted to use. Even with the lights a little closer together on the 2nd gen hood vs the 2.5 gen, the coverage is good. Anyway, here is my obligatory photo. Thanks again!

FYI - someone else mentioned recently they had a different set of holes than the OP. My ‘05 (manufacture date of April 05 with hood scoop) doesn’t have any holes in the hood ... so as of now they’re sitting in my toolbox. When I get back in town I’ll probably drill 2 small holes and go from there. I figured I’d post as an FYI and will post pics when I’m back at my house in a few weeks.

Yeah the spots I used on my '11 are the mounting points for the hood scoop which I don't have.

 

Night oil change real easy with under hood lighting..
