My Italian grandfather had a taxi service in Naples during WWII. He rigged his taxi to run on woodsmoke from a stove when fuel was rationed. On the other hand, he did loose his middle and pointer fingers on the fan belt of his car once while trying to fix it, so maybe he wasn't really that good of a MacGyver after all...

I know I am late to this party but in the in the 70's Lincolns had an optional heated windshield and back glass. Only it wasn't heated by air or the 12v system. It had a dedicated 110v A/C generator to power the heaters. The windshields had a gold tint to them and they used whale oil in them for cooling. They were really weird. You find a bunch of those, then mount them up you could be in business. I would suggest brackets on the frame and belts wrapped around to your driveshaft. That way you can run more of them. Them get a towing driveshaft disconnect so you don't have to jack up the back end.

I do hope that everyone is converting their generators to run on whale oil. With the Chinese jumping into the game, we will be supplied with an over abundance of the sweet juice. Some estimates have the price down to below 2 dollars a gallon by mid 2020. Those same estimates put gasoline at above 8 dollars per gallon by mid 2025. I’ve already sold all of my stocks and am putting it all into Whale Futures. That sounds like a joke because the only future that the whales have is to power my generator so that when I lose power, I can still get on TW.
Ps. There are literally thousands of uses for whale oil. Buy in now while you still can.

I think you win just because of the weird knowledge about old Lincoln’s with whale oil.

Buy a Prius, hook up a 1000w pure sine inverter to the 12v battery and turn the car on. As the inverter drains the battery, the Prius will recharge it with the hybrid battery. Once the hybrid battery is depleted the engine will kick on to recharge the hybrid battery and the 12v battery to keep it going. The Prius sips gas so this can be done for quite a while.

Pretty popular mod in the Prius community actually.
