The thing is...my truck is not a 5 speed, either. And the other SR5 decals spells out Toyota Racing Development, which is what "TRD" stands for...not much difference, to me. Maybe a custom one like above, without the 5-speed part?...or, maybe one that says, "The next to cheapest trim level 4x4. Not the off road edition, but off road capable"... :) Just kidding. I guess custom is the way to go. Now to start thinking about a design and color options.

You can easily take an exacto blade and trim off that part of the decal before you apply the rest of it. Or yes, any of the other multitude of choices out there or just go custom.

Maybe I asked you before, but what kind and size are your tires?

BFG KO. 265-75-16. They are E load, so they will firm up the ride. I personally think the ride is fine and I'm still averaging 20mpg. I actually saw 25mpg on a recent 3 hour trip, but the conditions were perfect. I like having the piece of mind with E rated tires. I tow and do some mild off-roading in some remote locations.

Will the 275/75/16 rub the wells? I have 16x7 wheels

I'm not sure about 275's, I have the 265's and there is absolutely no rubbing on-road or off.

Do you have a photo "straight on"? I'd like to see how close these tires are to the outermost fender

I'm not sure if it is the gearing, the engine, the tires, or a combination of them all, but the ole' Tacoma came through great this weekend during a little off-road action. The photo is just of the Tacoma coming through a big mud puddle, but the truck did great on some steep loose dirt, mud, etc., and it never even went into 4wd. For some reason the "fake" TRD 4X4 stickers didn't show up in the still from the video.

TRD "Off Road" decals removed...."SR5 4x4" decals added. I'm no longer improperly badged. Thank you CBoy808.

Wish I could order a SR5 4x4 with a moonroof in silver. I just want a solid double cab without all the bullshit.

That's how I think of my truck, Thor. Just a LB 4wd, without all the bullshit. Get compliments on her all the time. Until now, though, was always answering questions about the TRD "off road" decals. Got tired of it, so I switched to SR5.

OP I'm glad you seem to have found some ideas for your truck and lots of suggestions. Truck is looking good. I couldn't help reading through the thread though and thinking to myself....why in the $%&_*%× does it matter what kind of decals everyone chooses to put on? Why are people getting butthurt and sarcastic over a truck that they aren't even paying for and don't have to drive? I understand that everyone has an opinion and is entitled to it...but geez, people kill me on here sometimes. How many of us really know whether a person bought a base model because that's all they could afford or if it was just exactly what they wanted? What if they didn't want a TRD OR or TRD Sport or TSS or Baja or whatever? Maybe they bought what they bought because it's exactly what they wanted or needed? Personally, I don't care for "poser" decals...but the majority of people out here don't know the difference. Besides, I'm not driving anyone's truck but my own and I'm definitely not paying for anyone else's but mine. My only peeve about poser decals is that I've seen lots of people slap a TRD Sport decal on a taco or a TRD OR. Then they go to sell it private party or some mom and pop type dealership puts that truck on the lot and they advertise a regular cab taco as having the "TRD OR" package....then some poor soul who doesn't know any better buys it and thinks he's scored an awesome deal on a truck with the TRD package when in fact he/she has a base model taco. You guys have some awesome looking trucks on here...sorry for the rant...but I have seen so many members on here bashing others just because they aren't using their truck the same way another would....or they aren't putting the same tires on or the same lift kit another would. Who cares? It's their truck and they are here because they are excited to be a fellow Tacoma owner. Constructive criticism is fine, suggestions are great....but not everyone has the same tastes.

First of all, thank you for your compliments. I am loving my new truck, get compliments all the time on it, and I couldn't be happier about my purchase.

For me, my truck is all I can reasonably afford. I had set a budget and the SR5 came in, just under, but at the top of of what I had allowed. Truth be known, I'd own a TRD Off Road if I had the patience to wait longer and I had a bigger budget. I have been telling my wife for years that "my next truck will be a 4wd". For me, this is a HUGE upgrade from anything I have ever owned. AFTER I bought it, I found out all about the crawl control, sunroof, JBL subwoofer, etc. that some of the folks on this forum have. I'd say they are blessed, but so am I.

Years ago, I used to see the new Tacomas with the side graphics. I thought to myself, then and since, "I really like what Toyota is doing with their trucks." I thought the added graphics were purely aesthetic, and I really liked them. I have mistaken many-a Pre-Runner for 4wd versions, because of the truck stance, suspension, and side graphics. So when I bought my truck I immediately went on eBay and bought the graphic stickers. I wasn't trying to fool anyone, or make my truck look more expensive. I just liked the look.

After I got the graphics on I began to realize, partly because it was being pointed out on here, that I had just made my truck look like a model that it was not. I don't really care what anyone thinks, but, with time, almost everyone that saw my truck would comment something like "oh, rich-man, got the T-R-D package...nice!" I found myself saying "no, it's just stickers...it's not a TRD off road". I honestly got tired of it. I decided to keep the graphics, but get some that didn't "fool" anyone. Now, if someone likes my truck, I can just say thanks. No apologies, or extra-explanations necessary.

We live and we learn. I now own a 4wd truck, with a double cab, a towing package, and a full bed (that I can used for Home Depot runs, trash runs, camping, biking, etc). I've put some nice tires on it to add to the "truck" look and the off road capability. I've added side graphics for the looks I like and I will continue to add improvements as I can afford them. For those of you with BETTER, MORE EXPENSIVE, MORE CAPABLE, BETTER-LOOKING, BETTER-EQUIPPED, trucks than myself...I say congratulations. For me, I have made the huge upgrade (finally) from many 2wd vehicles, to a 4wd Tacoma. I love it.
