Hey guys, names Nick, I'm from Florida and on my way to becoming a 2019 Tacoma owner! I've owned only sports cars and still do but I think its time I sack up and get a truck. My dad had an 85' 4x4 22r Pickup(purchased for $10k new )all the way to 350k(pretty typical) when I was a kid and always had a soft spot for them since. Currently have my eyes set on a V6 SR5 or TRD Sport but it looks like really the only differences are head unit, stickers, seats, a bed mounted power outlet and 17s which personally I think 16s with some good meat looks better. Things to consider, I don't plan to do any real offroading, especially seeing I live in Florida so 4x4 will be a waste, I do fish and own a Kayak(It's getting old loading it on the roof of my BMW) and I do own another car(2650lbs) I may or may not yank around and I do plan to change wheels and tires. Any input on the new Tacoma to aid me in the searching/buying process will be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!!

Update:So I picked up a 19’ TRD Off-road in Calvary Blue this weekend and I love it..

4x4 is a big help in the mud.

I'm not sure I'll be in a situation where I'll need 4x4 so spending the few thousand more for that is a waste, its something I've considered because I know for sure it helps but yea cant see myself using it much at all.

Perks of living in Florida and salt is only an issue here if you're driving your car/truck in salt water, otherwise its not something to be concerned about. not sure how people can live somewhere that limits your time to be able to drive sports cars, I'd go crazy.
