Anyone do anything to improve the comfort of their front seats?
Maybe add a little lumbar support?

We use my truck for all of our road trips, since the wife's civic gets a little cramped quick.
She complains that the seat is a little rough. Compared to her seats, yeah, definitely. The civic seats are better contoured for sure, and better lumbar support.

Anyone ever have an upholstery shop add some support/add some cushion?
The little pillow things don't work too well, we've tried that.

My 2012 came with lumbar support. If it wasn't an option in 2009 maybe pick a seat out of a junkyard with it and swap it right in?

The only way to make the Tacoma more comfortable would be to completely redesign the cab. The problem with the seats is they sit way too close to the floor. The cab needs to be 2-3inches tallerso the seats can be taller.

The seats arent rough, a truck is rough. Sounds like your wife doesnt like trucks lol

Also, just an idea, you have an '09. Have you replaced the struts? Normal life on struts are 100k. If they are going kaput it will change the ride.

Shocks have about 15k miles on them.
Just got the rear leaf packs replaced under warranty, then added a leaf to pop the rear up a bit.
She doesn't mind the rough truck part so much as the noticeably less-comfy seats compared to her car.. lol
The truck does ride rougher than her car though, because, truck lol

We're looking at some GX460's, and LX570's as a new family vehicle sometime mid-late next year, once she finishes her masters- she graduates in May. Once we pick one, this will be a non-issue, as that'll be the vehicle we take for family stuff.

My truck does have a lumbar adjustment, but just doesn't come out enough to make much of a difference.

The seat height does make sense, never quite thought about that before.
Really was just reaching out, seeing what, if any, things anyone has done.

If you want the seat higher I think some people on here have used spacers and longer bolts to raise the seats

my taco rides like a Cadillac with 180k on the original struts compared to my 95 F350 4x4 7.3 Turbo CCLB 307k miles with HD tow and off road package with bilistiens all around

I've heard it said that seats in a Sport are more comfortable than the Off Road.

My god these seats being any higher in my truck would leave me staring at the damn mirror again (already raised the mirror once). Bone stock, when i try to use the sun visor, it blocks EVERYTHING in front of me.

The seats need to be lower for some ppl.

They are the same exact seats.

The only model with different seats are base models and SR5s that have the no frills seats. Some people like those better. I imagine based on how they look, they feel more like the 1st gen seats, meaning they have less support and feel more like a broken in couch than the firm TRD seats.

Broken in couch seats are very nice for short drives but the lack of support always murders my ass and back 3 hrs in to a long drive. I have an 02 4Runner with the cushiest seats ever, but this is how I know they (in my opinion) suck on long drives.

to be honest, I have never rode in an Off Road TRD so I dont really know but I do know that I like the seats in the Sport with the only thing being maybe that they might need raised up just a bit but even that dont bother me enough to want to mess with them.

i put wet okole covers on and not only do the seats look 10x better, you can feel the extra padding. If you go this route, grab some seat heaters to and stick em to the covers. Pure Bliss in the winter time!

Worked for me. I raised it 3/4 of an inch (back bolts only) and used a longer high strength bolt. It resulted in a more comfortable riding position. I did the passenger side too, and my wife likes it a lot better.
