It inductively "couples" to the pickup attached on the inside of the glass.
Remember those tunable loop antennas you could just place next to your AM radio and somehow magically it'd improve reception and pick up stations louder? Same principle. That loop when placed within range of the internal loopstick AM antenna, would "couple" to it via "inductance".
I have a glass mount antenna loaded for higher fequencies in VHF/UHF for my scanner. That one "capacitively" couples the antenna to the load pickup at those high frequencies.
Because of the lower frequencies of the CB band, TC's CB glassmount antenna is a compromise. It's only about 50-70% efficient with no hard groundplane. TC, you'd be better off drilling for a proper mount but hey if you're content with what you have, more powah to ya!

i was unable to get a pic (low batteries) of parking outside the salvage uPullIt lot while :deadhorse: on the fallen comrade (involved in a serious front driver side collision perhaps 100 miles or so from me this past winter) before it meets its final resting place this week

it was perhaps one of the very first Tacomas ever made with production date 02/95
license plate had it registered as a Farm Truck so perhaps only made it to the mall during peak holiday shopping season
... had a matching blueish purple topper on a single cab to transport presents safely back to the farm in the cold and snowy season.
