So let me get this straight..... according to you, I need to be a helicopter parent and hold my kids hand, accompany him every where until he is 18 or until I feel he can can safely navigate society with out making mistakes???? That sound about right?

Because the mall should be a safe place for kids to hangout and socialize. We went when we were kids to look at girls and stuff we had no money to buy. You’re obviously just some angry asshole who needs to find a hobby other than yelling at the tv

 

It sure should... just as school, rock concerts, and tour buses should be safe as well. They aren’t as safe as they once were... but keeping your kids locked up to avoid the world is a silly defense to avoid that 0.00000000000000000000001% chance they get shot at a mall. Without you there.

Instead, teach your kids to be aware of their surrounds and what to do in an emergency.

I couldn't agree more, especially since the local Mall here is basically where stores go to die. The mall got bought out by Simon malls and began charging for parking. It is more of a nuisance to get in and out of. Plus it has become cholo haven, and literally someone stabbed some people on Christmas Eve here this year as part of a Gang Attack. I do all of my shopping either online or for restaurants and breweries and food trucks that friends own. If I can't buy from a friends business I get it online. It helps keep your friends in business, which is top priority. I don't feel bad when I see shitty chains doing poorly as they usually treat their employees like shit.

 

If malls disappear, where are half of us going to crawl?

Maybe those same kids are tired of seeing old dudes like myself sitting on a bench while my wife goes in Bath and Body looking for smell goods for the bathroom.

 

I just got a parking ticket downtown because their kiosk didn't work, and week before someone hit my Tacoma back bumper next to Jessie Jings

 

Living where you live, you should be thankful they haven't shit on the hood yet.

Anyway.. the parking garages downtown are all owned by the city, including the one by the mall. Part of that malls problem involves the homelessness, but I digress.

 

This is a bucket of shit that fell over in front of my buddy Joey's shop A Shade Darker near my work. Same spot I saw a dude get covered in shit while dumping down the storm drain. This is like maybe a mile from my house. Its disgusting. Theres at least 30 campers doing this on that street and standish. This photo is from today.

I can see where the OP might think that a kid being dropped at a mall to roam,might have prevented the kids death.But it is just chance.
I also hate that people buy everything online. As i tell people on my local facebook page,that complain about needing more small business'.It may cost a little more but small business cant compete with online.
My example Dont bitch when pets mart goes out because Chewy was cheaper.
