Looking for some advice from tw folks in central cali. I'm heading up to mammoth tomorrow pm for some skiing this weekend. They're supposed to get some snow on my way up. I'm in bfg at ko2 315 35's. How strict are they about chains on 4x4 tacos on big tires? Not sure where I can get chains last minute if need be. Thanks for your advice.

if you come in on the weekend with the major traffic flows and chains an whips are required they can ask to see your chains even though chains are not required for 4x4's and will turn you around to find some.

KO2's are "Mountain snowflake" severe snow rated tires so they're a legal 'snow tire' and will get you into R1 or R2 restrictions, R3(chains required on all vehicles) they usually just close roads rather than have mandatory chains on every single vehicle. You're likely good for a chain checkpoint, just keep speed in check and don't drive like an asshat and you should be good to go.

I was just up there for the last dump. I run 285/75/16 KO2's and they handled the snow like a champ. Didn't slip even once in 4wd. Don't even worry about it.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'll let you know how it goes. I'll keep the asshattery to a minimum.

No snow on the way up, but it's been snowing steadily all day so we'll see how the ko2's do on my way down the mountain. Sidenote, there's a guy in a second gen at sunshine village doing doughnuts in our parking lot right now. looks like he's having himself a good ole time!
