i'd say 4-1 is a comprehensive win...especially since Mexico's lone goal was a consolation goal from well outside the box that could not have been hit better. conveniently Ter Stegen was screened, but im not convinced he'd have got there anyways. That's not an every-day goal or a team goal by any means. a well taken, surprise free kick + a little bit of luck.

Germany's youngsters outclass Mexico's best, i'll still stand behind that statement. The support is in the scoreline.

I think it's safe to say it's a consolation goal when they score in the 88th minute down 3-0...but hey, you're entitled to an opinion as well.
a point is a point, but all that matters is the scoreline. I was merely saying, it wasn't a team effort for that goal, it wasn't a great cross even, or a passing sequence, or a counter attack. It was a slyly taken free kick that was hit spectacularly.

I don't think Germany considers this a serious trophy, that's why they're treating the whole thing as a try-out. If Chile triumph over our youngsters, good on them. If not, then what a feat to be proud of our youngsters for.

Just sayin', that scoreline affirms my statement that Mexico and Germany are two football federations cut from different cloths. The only time Mexico ever beat us was against West Germany over 30 years ago. failed 10 other times. I won't hold your salty comment against you, i guess that's part of being a fan of "El Tri"

you keep calling this german team youngsters and a "jv" team, not sure why you down play their abilities, kinda silly since they are all paid professionals in their own respected clubs.

the only thing a score line confirms is your last game, its the fans that boast after the fact, teams that don't take a trophy seriously do not compete in the tournament

 

forsure but goals don't matter in comparison to a win. so 2 leg aggregate or not, you win the game(s), you'll win the tie.

I call the Confederations Cup rendition of Die Mannschaft the youngster or "JV" team because they're exactly that. I'm actually borrowing the JV/Varsity metaphor from the Confed Cup commentators.
There's no more than 5 players on our Confed Cup squad that are over 25; that would qualify them to be called a team of youngsters. They're absolutely the youth/future of Die Mannschaft. Correct, most are well paid professionals for medium/large clubs but a lot of them still need caps, still need experience on the National level(obviously much different football), and need to mesh as a team.
I'm obviously not downplaying their ability, because all you have to do is watch them play and you see they're a very technically proficient team and are blossoming well.
The fact is, they're trying out to get called up with the big boys next summer - much like how a Varsity coach would scout his JV to see who he wants to bring up.
There's something to be said about the roster missing Neuer, Müller, özil, Götze, Kroos, Hummels, Boateng, Khedira, Schürrle, Mustafi, Gundogan, Höwedes, etc......
thats two world class squads right there, one of them has substantially more experience at this level - hence the CC being a tryout....

yeah their coach is horrible. Doesn't know how to select a team for shit. All of Mexicos goals come from individual brilliance.
