I was reading something about pits online and they are the second most human friends dogs after labs. It also said that they have an instinct that they know when something is wrong or out of place such as a burgler in the house. Its all about how they are raised and considering there whole body is one big huge muscle they can do alot of damage which is what attracts some people to them. I know my pit would probably do the same thing to a burgler. I would just hope my pit wouldn't get hurt or have to be put down in the end.

yeah i heard the same thing. im surprised all the pit haters havent come on here bashing them. like ive said before, ive encountered many a dog since ive been a meter reader and the most aggressive are mutts and chihuahuas.

this one is a 9 month old pitbull that didnt like the neighbors great dane getting aggresive with me. watch her stop him from barking at me. she does this for me every month. her house mates are a small mutt and a few cats.

I think this site has a lot of pit owners on here. After reading many threads on dogs or about dogs I would have to say that of Tacoma owners, Pits are one of the most common breeds. I get the most crap from my family and other people that know I have a pit. But never once has she been aggressive towards me or anyone else. I am more worried about my Australian Shepherd bitting or going after someone than my pit. My next dog will be another pit.

if its true he was a robber.... good. but not good in a way too.... in the end the dog probably got put down and the owner most likely got his life fucked cuz of our corrupt system.

    Just a bit of info.
Most pulling events are 16' in distance and accomplished in a pre-determined amount of time. I have personally witnessed a 41lbs Female "Pit Bull" pull 6402lbs on a cart.

Sled: Just that, directly on the ground or on angle iron to keep it straight. Most difficult, least amount of weight pulled. No wheels.

Cart: A wheeled vehicle with a carrying surface, unguided (on open ground) Impressive amounts of weight hauled.

Track: Uses a track and wheel system. Massive amounts of weight will be pulled here.

What is sad is that the dog gets the bad rep not the guy that was breaking in the house. I have a pit and i would put any kid with my kid and not worry about someone trying to take them. :p

ya the big dogs like pitts and rotts, have bad reps. Ya thay are aggressive animals, but alot has to do with how the owners raise them also. Like i said, i have 2 huge rotties, and they are real nice.

To think a dog would just turn is crazy. Poor breeding would make any dog unstable, however people often miss the signs. Its like me saying because you are from Pasadena I won't like you because of how people from there act.
In temperment test 85.3% out of 665 American Pit Bull terriers pass and 86% out of 288 Huskies pass. Based on temperment these dogs are very similar.
During a temperment test a dog is placed in very stressful situations and then a board decides how well the specific dogs handle themselves. A temperment test is allowed and accepted in court, atleast the ATTS stats are. They have one of the most compelete data bases that divides dogs up specifically.
