Mandatory Software Update - Radio

Mine has not offered any updates. Unless it truly is mandatory and will not give me any other option I will NOT be updating it. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" philosophy applies here.

 

Mine was asking... I didn't notice it all the time and I wonder if it didn't connect after a few seconds.

Yesterday I upgraded to IOS 10. This morning there was an update for the Entune app. After the update, I went out, fired up The Silver Bullet and a put up alerted about the software update. There was no notice on the phone asking Entune for permission to connect. I don't know if this is a change.

If you want your phone to stop asking for permission like this:

Then go to settings in Entune and change this screen to Never Display.

You can also control the source of the data from HD and Phone if you don't want Entune to use your phone data:

As you can see, mine did not update today.

 

Started my car this morning as normal, and a new entune update prompt came up. Downloaded and installed - didn't notice any difference, but Pandora doesn't seem to work anymore over the head unit.

Worse part is, there was an entune android app, pandora app, and head unit update all on the same day! I don't know who to point the blame too. lol

 

I just had my second one pop up yesterday. Neither of the downloads have worked for me. I assume I have connection issues with my phone. The first one I had done while at the deal. The service adviser connected his phone and I logged into entunes with that phone and it downloaded just fine. This second update I am not successfully downloading again.

 

My entune head unit, entune app on my phone, and pandora all updated today.

Now pandora streaming isn't working!

 

Forgive my ignorance but do the Entune features such as traffic,and stocks and music use minutes or data from my phone plan when used through the truck ? I just have a tracfone plan with an Alcatel icon pop phone A564C with android 4.4.2 . My phone is paired to the truck and I use the phone for calls and texts but have never done anything else.
I tried to read about Entune at the Entune site but it really does not say how it works.

 

No on traffic and weather. if you stream music, then yes - it will use your phones data.

Not sure about stocks.

I think I recall seeing in settings that you can check either your phone or HD radio for your weather data or both.

Since I don't have HD radio... But it can't be much data.

And Taco16LB: I think you need to set up a no-cost account before it'll connect.

In lies my confusion , when I check for phone compatibility , I do not have one of the main phone carriers listed.
Make a no-cost account with who ?

 

Oh I see , an account with Entune . I skipped the provider step and got to creating an account .

 

I got the update on my head unit today and I noticed that I could have it "Read" text messages out loud now. I won't go so far as to claim that it is fixed as it would randomly work on a rare occasion. But it worked for 3 text messages I received today. I just looked at my phone after seeing this and I have the Entune app update waiting to be installed. I'm installing it now and we'll see if the being able to read text messages out loud feature is fixed when I head home from work today. It's never worked twice in one day. My Pandora stopped working for a few days a couple weeks ago but started working again all of a sudden without any sort of update. Other than those two issues, I haven't had any other problems with it.

I'm also aware that the reading text messages out loud could be fixed by removing the quick contacts, but I never got around to doing that. I use the quick contacts more than I care about having it read my text messages to me, so it wasn't important to me to have it fixed, but it will be a nice feature to have now if it's fixed.

Now that I downloaded the app and it came up with the update . It stalled at 34%, 2 times then said update unsuccessful . My weather and traffic now work on the truck but will have to wait for a trip out of the woods for the update I guess . I see the stocks on the phone but not on the truck .

mine is stuck at 34% as well and then states unsuccessful and yet to be updated, not sure if its bug or what. i have my phone even connected to wifi in my garage same stuff. seems like broken update. or worse etunes got hacked and pushing broken/modified update ehehe

 

Same here ! I was on my Wifi and same 34% but I did not get the yet to be updated part. I canceled the updated and did it again and each time it only got to 34% either by Wifi or Cell tower when I went and literally parked by a tower !

 

Mine seemed to update fine this morning. Notifaction popped up when pulling out of garage and was able to snap a new pics. Less than a minute download and install. Don't notice anything different but hopefully the text reading is more reliable with iOS.

Along with the head unit update, there is an update for the app as well as mentioned before. Hopefully just helps with stability.

 

I have Phone Data Plan Pop-Up set to Never Display and it still shows up every time. Just something I've gotten used to. Usually it's because the app has an error in the background. And when I open the app it gives me this. All I have to do it say okay and login again and I'm good till next time.
