Why a sport? Well primarily because it’s the only way in the US to get a 6 foot bed and a manual. And I also didn’t think it mattered since most of my driving would be on road just hauling toys. Haha. Ha. Haha.

First mod was wheels and tires. Downsized to 16” for more sidewall and after exhaustive reading… decided to go with LT 265/75/16 wildpeak ATs.

second mod I did was KDMax 91 tune, injen intake, and a high flow Y pipe. I honestly feel like out of those, the exhaust made the biggest butt dyno difference.

now we move to suspension. What am I doing to warrant suspension? I’m in the flagstaff area and would like to do sedona trails as well as Moab stuff. I also find the trd sport shocks quite bad in all situations on and off road. Needlessly stiff and extra bad off road.

I originally ordered 6112/5160 preassembled from yota mafia but they were actually backordered. I’m impatient so I cancelled.

after a while mulling what to do…. I thought I was going to do fox 2.0 ifp front + 2.0 ifp remote res rear, spc uca, and icon aal. Never got around to ordering it and the fronts are backordered. Then I stumbled across the rough country stuff. So instead of logically going with a tried and true set up nobody complains out…. We dice rolled for vertex front struts, rc aluminum uca, and v2 ifp rear shocks. Everything was in stock and the projected shipping time for everything is less than a week.

I think the vertex fronts are actually a solid choice. 2.5”, remote res, adjustable damping, for less than the basic 2.0 ifp.

The rc uca are a dice roll. Maybe they’ll be the best $260 I’ve spent, maybe in 10k miles the bushings and ball joint will be trash and I’ll be buying spc. Time will tell.

for the back… it’s a 2” block lift. Most likely I’ll do a Dakar leaf pack but that’s more than I wanted to spend at this moment. The rc ifp shocks are so cheap they may as well be disposable. I’ll try them out. Also going to see how I like the vertex front. Possibility I go to vertex rear too. The price for a 2.5” remote res with adjustable damping is just too hard to ignore even with the hate RC stuff gets. But if it’s trash then I’ll be doing accutune adventure fox ifp 2.0 remote res rear shocks.

On the cosmetic side, ordered some trd color bed and hood stripes. Going to do a white TRD knob with boot collar too.

Eventually I’d like to do a revtek lightbar mount with kc day lighters but that’s just bling for the moment so it’s low priority.

lift is getting installed next week by yours truly so stay tuned for updates there.

pics are how she sites right now. Just wheels and tires.

Sharp looking rig! I just installed the 3" Vertex front and rear myself (late) last night. Alignment scheduled for today then rims/tires tomorrow morning. All that's left is fwd splash guards and greasing the UCA's. Can't wait to see how she rides. I went with Nitto Ridge Grappler's (285/70r/17) on Fuel Rebel rims (17x9, -12mm offset). I pray there is no rubbing.
I also installed the Camburg X-Joint UCA's, Ingen Evo Intake, Carven Exhaust, Pedal Commander, and a few other things. I'm new to the Tacoma world so I am excited to get it out in the wild. Now I have two toys to choose from, lol.20210528_170638.jpg Screenshot_20210924-063148_Gallery.jpg 20210528_170638.jpg

Thanks! Wheels are race line 944GS outlander! 16x8 +0. @Discount Tire helped me pick them out. I had some others I wanted but their site said they didn’t fit. So I slid in those DMs and apparently what I was looking at didn’t clear the brake calipers. So they helped me find some silver/gun metal wheels with no fake bead locks in the size I wanted. I haven’t seen anyone else running these yet so that’s kinda cool.

got the suspension stuff installed last week. Took it out to play a little bit yesterday. Easy install, everything fit perfectly. Rides great, no complaints.

I think the next move is a rear locker. Probably going the electric route.
