My Tacoma has no power on the bottom end. Is there a fix?

The vF Tunes fix that perfectly.

Also, be sure that you get the latest TSB flash to 04B14. Big improvements there also.

They're designed to run a higher RPM like a 4 cylinder. My 6 speed challenger would run at 1500 RPM on the freeway with tons of power left, I could pull hills without downshifting from my Idaho to Wyoming drives still with more left (420ft lbs and 375 hp). Our 6 speed tacos run at like what 2300 RPM highway (265ft lbs and 278hp) with little power left stomping on the pedal at that RPM. Not only is the truck heavier, but torque is HOW MUCH work the engine can produce and horsepower is HOW FAST it can do that. You'll hurt your truck under reving way before over reving, it's designed for high RPM, keep it around 3K at least when you're looking for power.

Did you buy this new, or is it just new to you?

Stock size tires (or close) or jumbos all the cool kids want?

You can get the Tacoma with a 6 speed and 4.0 motor. Solves this issue.

Bought it new since day one first gear has no power. Going down hill in first gear 18 to 20 mph before engine holds you back.

The latest tunes have a DFCO fix in 2nd through 6th where the injectors don't come back on until near idle. 1st is being addressed on a future update that will be similar. Currently, it has been lowered a bit and is a noticeable improvement.

OP pmd and said he thinks going down hill in first gear, giving no gas, it goes too fast and should engine brake him down to 8 mph. But instead engine braking allows him to get to to 18 mph.

I don’t think there is a real problem here.

Agreed. On the Stock tune, DFCO can be unpredictable. Much more consistent on the tune.

18mph in 1st is about 3,500rpm. From my experience, unless on relatively flat ground, the Taco won't slow from 18 to 8 by engine breaking alone. It will hold a speed nicely though.

Well guys idk but in first gear starting on a hill in the snow or mud it will stall out if you dont put the pedal to the floor and then you just creep for a while then it takes off

Yes. That is the weaksauce stock tune that Toyota stuck us with. There is a bit more power and driveability to be had with the TSBs, if you have never been updated. The OV Tune will double down there with about 50ft-lb more in the low end.
