Building the wiring harness today! Got all the wires, new soldering gun, and supplies in yesterday.

Pro-Tip: When soldering please use a solder extractor fan. Solder contains lead and can cause Cancer and other stuff. I went out to a commercial server/computer e-recycler and picked up a used 3Com 24v server cabinet cooling fan array and taped a carbon filter on the back. It actually has a sticker that says "PROPERTY OF U.S. GOVT. - DECLASSIFIED" on it, haha.

Is that bad? The auction I had for wiring only let me choose 6 rolls and I only had enough alternating colors for the locks, windows, and ground.

I've been at this since 11 AM I got genuinely terrified, haha. I don't know if it's the exhaustion or the hunger talking but I never want to see wires ever again in my life.

Alright, I've just about had enough of this for today. Been at it for almost 10 hours now. I have the power mirror Harness done, most of the power lock Harness done, and I just started the window Harness.

The 12ga red power wire I bought is way too thick and rigid to use (I think it's rated for gasoline and oil immersion?) so instead I'm just using 14ga yellow wire with black sharpie marks to distinguish it from the yellow wire used for power window signal.

I think I'm going to end up redoing the mirror Harness, I made one wire a little too long and it threw off the symetrics. (Hence the weird braid thingy in the middle)

Decided yellow wire w/ black stripes to distinguish power was too janky for my OCD (since the 12ga red wire I was supposed to use was WAY too rigid) I begrudgingly went to Home Depot to buy 14ga stranded pure copper wire and some more female disconnects for the relays.

It's almost done. I'm in the home stretch of the Harness fabrication. So far the mirrors work.

Pure copper is better wire. nothing wrong with OCD when doing wiring.

    IT WORKS!!!!

After almost six months of research, development, searching for & obtaining the correct parts, and actually fabricating the harness I can happily say that this damn thing works amazingly. The power windows work, the remote mirrors, and most importantly- the power locks. The happiness and euphoria that surged through me when I heard the mirror motors roll, lock actuators move, and the relays click, and the power window regulators move up and down is something I've never felt before. I just love it when things work the first time you try it. I started this project in October of 2016 with this thread (It used to be a post of me asking if this was even possible to do, or if it was just an insane idea) and now here I am almost 6 months later with it all said and done and working great.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank @mechanicjon. He's been the biggest help in the world. No way in hell I could have figured this all out if it weren't for him. I can't thank you enough man.

Photos and videos coming soon! Next step is for me to install all this in the truck. I have to pick up some replacement parts first (the passenger window regulator is pretty badly bent, and the passenger door panel is really rough from the crash on the donor truck.)

If there's enough interest I might mass produce these harnesses as a retrofit kit! 4Runners use pretty similar wiring so it wouldn't be that difficult.

Here's the retrofit harness in its entirety. The connectors are on their corresponding sides (left side for the driver's side kick panel, and right side for the passenger side kick panel)
