2 low would be incredibly handy for moving trailers...esp 2lo reverse. The 6MT gears are much too high, lots of unnecessary slipping the clutch that could be eliminated.

OK that makes sense but I'm going to guess you would be looking at several house payments. The older stuff had tapered wheel bearings and a floating hub I often wondered if the knuckles from an older Taco would mate up to the newer suspension. That system made far more sense because the only thing that turned was the wheel now they spin hubs axles and spider gears for no reason other than convenience. Toyota's association with GM brought that stupid ideal to life right down to the ADD actuator I guess the American public is just way to lazy to get out and lock hubs in. I want my shift lever back.

The FJ case can be had for under 500 if you look around, the axle tube another $150 or so. Plus you can resell the Tacoma parts for about the same cost. I'm not sure how much the manual hubs cost but I'm tempted to do that swap myself since I already have the FJ case. I agree, Americans and the lazy soccer moms and fat ass lazy motherfuckers have made the vehicles what they are today, people would rather turn a knob inside the car to get "4wd" then to walk outside the car and engage something manually. This way they can tweet, eat their whopper, and get a Facebook post all while they offroad.

Well when winter came to Maine I just left them locked in it was no worse that what we have now just a few more spinning parts. I guess I figure that the parts would be a good deal more, around here they want $400 for 4 steel wheels. Never priced one don't guess I will my stupid push button thing works I just need a way to keep ADD from applying in low so I can deal with my trailer with out the steering wheel being jerked out of my hand.

    Updated 1/15/17!!!!

Manual Locking Hub Conversion Kit for Toyota:

    05-17 Tacoma
    03-17 4Runner
    07-14 FJ Cruiser

A complete manual locking hub conversion using genuine Toyota parts for a direct bolt in application.

    The kit consists of:

    2 - CV shaft assemblies
    2 - Hub/bearing assemblies
    2 - Dust seal spacers
    2 - Dust seals
1 - Set of Warn Locking Hubs
    1 - Hardware bag

I had installed the first kit on my 2014 Toyota 4Runner 4x4 a few years ago. The the front drivetrain and suspension is also similar to that of the Tacoma and FJ Cruiser. I had noticed a difference in gas mileage, better brake response and less wear and tear on the front drivetrain parts while in 2WD. To use the 4WD, you would need to get out of the vehicle and engage the hubs manually. Right now i have 1 complete kit, 2 currently being assembled and am also currently working on the next big order. If you have any questions, id be glad to try and answer them to the best of my knowledge and expertise. Thank you for looking!FullSizeRender.jpg

How much? I'm all over this. I already have a twin sticked FJ case. I already want to do the ADD delete. This is just what I need. Are chromoly axles still an option?

Only thing I'd want different is for high angle inner CV boots installed. I'm sure if anyone is doing this conversion, they're lifted enough to wear the pleats on their boots.

Shift on the fly is nice. What I don't like is the backing up and driving forward multiple time to get it to engage / disengage...

My 99 had manual hubs, and constantly wonder how easily parts would interchange with my 13'. Interested in price as well

Locking hubs give you shift on the fly - sort of... Example snowy morning, clean off truck, lock hubs & drive off with transfer case in 2WD. Shift TC to 4WD when needed, off when not. When at destination and don't need 4WD anymore, unlock hubs...

King, TC +2"LT, 35's, Aluminum this and that.
Without the axle shafts installed so it would save on shipping, and I could install the +2 LT axles would be nice.

Throw in a case of Hawaiian Sun Lilikoi and I'm sold.
