i have had a manual in every toyota i have owned except for the 01 DC and thats the reason i didn't like it as much. i was going to keep my 97 but when i heard i could get a DC with a 6-speed i went for it with my 09 DC and i love it. the shifter was a lil tight at first but after about 5K it's smooth as silk now.. In a 4wd, manual is all i'll have.

    It's the wife's T4R so it's stock
    Auto.

I wanted a 6-speed, but when I drove it, it felt so clunky... But I still get my manual tranny fix with my daily driver.

I have the best of both worlds. I have the 6 spd man and my GF has the auto. Both crew cabs but hers is the pre runner and mine the off road. Hers has the 3.71 gears and mine is the 3.91 gears. she gets 2 to 3 MPG more than I do and it is nice to drive in town but I commute 50 miles a day on the freeway so I like shifting mine and offraod is simple with it being low geared enough. I also pull 4 quads with mine and it is nicer with my stick than the auto. Especially with icy roads and snow I can lug it a little more with out slipping.

like manuals but id say autos are better for offroading cause you get better control of your vehicle. so when your going over a rock you can hold the brake not falling off it cause your trying to give it gas and get over then you wont have enough time to hit the brake.

4LO and I don't need to juggle brake and gas. :D Just let off the gas, let idle pull it along, and hit the gas as needed. Although yes, it would be nice to be able to not have the clutch to deal with sometimes.

Nope. Both have 3.73 rear gears if they are the V6.

I have an auto because it was what available at the time and because the wife doesn't know how to drive stick anyways, but if I had more of a choice I'd go with a manual.

Manual. I enjoy having the manual, more gear control which sometimes is necessary with the 2.7L.

    stock, for now
my first vehicle was a 5 speed jeep..Loved it..or so i thought. I got rid of it for my tacoma, and now i regret doing so just cuz of the auto. Im seriously thinking about going to my local dealer and test driving a new manual and then keep my 96 so i can have the best of both worlds..lol

In some ways I miss manual. But LA and North bay traffic changed my mind.

I would say manual because it keeps the girly from driving my truck, but having under gone knee surgery and having a tendency towards breaking my self while skiing or racing motocross, I have to say that an auto is much more practical
