manual or automatic, which do you prefer and why?

Manual Trans all day everyday. The way i see it, if you arent crippled or have kind of muscular disease that prohibits you from driving a manual, then u should drive a manual... Everyone else in the rest of this world drives a manual, but not americans, we are lazy

 

What if you want a DCLB ?

 

Lol idk, then just get an access cab lol, im im just speaking in general terms, about all cars and trucks xP

 

I like auto for my daily driver and manual for the 'fun' / sports car although with all this Paddle Shifter nonsense it defeats the whole 3rd pedal.

My Taco is my daily driver and if you have ever sat in bumper to bumper traffic trying to get into NYC for 90+ (every f-ing day) minutes you know that a manual is a pain in the ballz.

 

I wanted a DCLB , not an AC , you know , in general terms

 

I have always driven manual and love it for snow driving and light wheeling, but I am considering an auto for my next truck. Traffic in a manual gets old. And I think I have too much fun driving stick, auto might be more kind to my gas tank.

 

I drove a manual truck for 14 years before getting my auto Tacoma , I love the auto , manually limit gears when you want to , don't when you don't

 

Used to swear by standard. Have an auto now and I don't mind it. I'm excited to have lower gearing. Definitely have more control with standard transmission but man I love puttin it in D to drive home...

 

I've always had a manual. i decide what rpm it shifts gears or maybe no gear for any given road and weather conditions

 

I find being able to manually shift the auto pretty awesome too

To answer the title, I "prefer" a manual. But I don't pretend the newer AT is most vehicles aren't superior. . . that preference changes vehicle to vehicle.

 

if i got a 4banger, i'd of gotten a manual. but 6cylinder for towing, automatic is much easier, especially for boats.

 

I prefer the automatic. Frees my right hand and arm to handle any ladies riding along.

 

When I drive a stick: I like to roll back and forth at a stop light to look like a badass motherfucker to the soccer mom next to me. Then cackle my exhaust off her door when I drop the clutch and floor it.
Seriously though it's just straight up fun and engaging to drive a stick.

 

a manual trans is fun rowing through the gears in a sports car...or banging them out riding a Harley...

but, in a pickup...it's auto for this old guy.

 

We put a man on the moon, why in hell would you wanna shift gears?

 

I like the auto because my wife said "You can get a new truck only if it is automatic."

That said I like a standard transmission because of the skill it takes to use smoothly. I would rather tow heavy stuff with the auto because the torque converter eases the strain on drive components.
