manual or automatic, which do you prefer and why?

After 12 years in a manual, I agree. Just point and shoot.. and if you have back issues, no matter how bad it is, you can still drive yourself around and not have to rely on finding a chauffeur.

Yup , I drove a manual truck for 14 years prior to buying my Tacoma , they are both fun .

Anybody that thinks they are instantly a better driver because they own a manual is incorrect .

 

Manual. The only way to go with the 2.7.

I grew up a long time ago. Got all my kicks years ago. Now I will only buy an automatic because it is waaaaaaaay better all the time. It has a better resale value as well.

 

My first choice was a manual AC 4x4, but I couldn't find one in my price range

 

my last pick up was auto but i was also a 4.0 v6 so it had more power than my 4cyl taco so i figured since i wouldnt be able to afford the v6 taco so i didnt have a choice about the 4cyl so i figured it would be easier to control the lesser power with manual. liked auto but also love manual in the taco. for anyone who wants to bitch about traffic in a manual, coming home from class last week i spent a solid half hour in the ramp from the deegan expwy to the GWB(which is on a HILL) in crawling traffic and it wasnt horrible. both r good. manual is preferable in a truck with a 4 cyl imo

 

first truck was a manual, and after driving that for a few years, i thought id never want to drive another stick, but after now owning my automatic for a year roughly, id have to say id rather have a stick. more fun to drive, more reliable, and more responsive when hitting the gas, dont need to wait for the truck to downshift or anything, you control all of it.

 

I just downshift my auto when I feel like it

 

well if your in 5th or 4th thats kinda hard, but i mean idk, manuals are way more fun too, especially offroad. plus girl like a guy who knows how to drive a manual

 

Manual. Between me, thieves, and my girlfriend, guess whose the only one who knows how to drive it? Plus I got a pretty sweet Vietnam grenade turned shifting knob.

 

Not that hard you shift from D to 4th or 4th to 3rd .

I liked my manual I used to have , like them both

 

Although I drive a manual.. I kinda prefer automatic for offroading (at least in these trucks).

 

1st gens dont have a 4th and 3rd
we got 1st, 2nd, and drive. unless you play with overdrive, but that complicates things

 

Manuals are definately more fun to drive, but as you get older - like my age - and you have all kinds of pain in all kinds of joints - like your knees - you definately appreciate the automatics...

Screw all that shifting, I want to drive, not work and drive.

 

Manual ... just because, not really sure why.

And because it makes my "censored" bigger. Yeah, that's it. Chicks think it's hotter. Definitely the reason. Gotta get me an engine w/o spark plugs next.

 

I've had vehicles with manual trans ever since my first car and nad no complaints so I just stick to it. and it's a little cheaper than tacoma with auto trans.

 

you shouldn't do that, i hear it is hard on autos to downshift and what not, my dad used to do that with his Honda but he stopped after he found out.
