No. There will be no DCLB option in the foreseeable future. According to a response I received from Toyota, there is currently not enough market base to warrant them producing that model.

well that helps me make up my mind then, thanks. I had a m/t on my last car and got rid of it because I was sick of sitting in NY traffic with it. Switched to a/t but miss the m/t. If they were planning on making them I would have probably went back to m/t.

I hate how Toyota does that. It is just like the DCLB trucks. GST will almost never stock one unless you special order it, and they are rare enough that salespeople will tell you they don't exist. They are insanely hard to find elsewhere in the country, and the Toyota mothership's marketing department takeaway is that there is low demand for the DCLB model, especially in a manual transmission. I would wager there is significantly higher demand for those trucks than Toyota realizes...just like with the manual transmissions. But since they never show up on most dealer lots and can only be had via a special order, very few people are willing to go through the trouble to try to get one. Self-fulfilling prophecy by Toyota's research crew...

On the other hand, I can't necessarily blame them...they are going to easily sell as many trucks as they are capable of making at the two plants. So they have very little incentive to start making changes that would ultimately result in them making fewer trucks overall due to line changeouts and such. Until they have surplus capacity at their assembly plants, I don't expect to see a wide collection of model options.

For full disclosure, I received that response from Toyota almost 10 years ago when the 2nd gen. body and 4 door option was first introduced. Seeing as we still don't have a DCLB manual tranny option, I would assume the same still holds true today.

I ran into a similar problem when the 2009 was just coming out and I wanted to trade my 98 Limited in for a manual 6-speed with all the bells and whistles. It was like pulling effing teeth, but after searching and begging in 3 different states I finally got them to ship a TRD Off Road 6-spd manual, dual cab (shortbed only at that time) with Sat, rear cam, BT and upgraded JBL audio. I still have it today with 74k miles and best thing is that she's paid for!

I ordered without a test drive also. And I didn't even test drive the automatic. I figured I'll get to test drive my truck once it's built, and if it really sucks I'll find a way to get my deposit back :) But I already know it's gonna be a blast to drive.

In the manual TRD OR, do you still get the rear locking diff? I know you lose crawl control and multi-terrain select. But the locker is all I would want.

Hi I also ordered a 16 trd-or dc 6mt without test driving. FYI the throw was measured by a current owner at 2.25" (n-3rd) and width between gears of 1"
This is not excessively long as my 15 accord sedan which has what is considered a great MT by the reviews also has 2.25" throw distance and a wider 1.25" between gears.

Dealer initially said 5-6 weeks when I Ordered on 10/16 but after try bait and switch they are saying they "have no idea maybe by Christmas".

I bought mine without a test drive of the manual, I drove a couple of autos at different dealerships and bought from a third (350 miles away) simply because they had an unsold unit enroute. I have 3000 miles on it now, and I'm liking it, coming from a full size Ram 4x4 mt. Its been good on the snow and gravel and miles of muddy roads in our recent storms. It fits in my small garage with my VW Westy and motorcycle, so that was a consideration to downsize

I ordered without a test drive, too. 2016 Inferno DCSB TRD Sport Manual. Not here yet. Trying not to think about it... Obviously not working.
