Both of my hands are free. I shift with my teeth. The way a REAL man plays with his stick.

Is that one of those shift knobs that become as hot as the sun when it sits outside for a while?

my 2021 (18k miles) shift knob is peeling.
Hasn't bothered me too much. Figured it was from alcohol in hand sanitizer.
May see what they say next time I take it to the dealer.

This may well be the last year for MT
In 2024 they will be gone,.. as the new power plants, Turbo 4, EV and Hybrid 4 will be the only choices available and all come with an automatic 6 or an 8 speed.

    I am a proud Dinosaur owner / operator :D with a V6

Bilstein 6112's 5th clip 1/4" spacer driver's side. Icon tubular UCA's with Delta joint, wheelers superbumps, ECGS bushing. Allpro standard leaf packs, 5160's, U bolt flip kit with wheelers super bump's, extended stainless steel brake lines, carrier bearing drop. Icon rebounds 17" with Nitto terra grappler G2's 285/70/17's.
I think Toyota will still offer the manual, but only in the turbo 4. Toyota has made itself around manual transmissions, I don't think they'll give up on them so easily. I'm pretty big on naturally aspirated engines and manuals myself, so I'm pretty sure I'll be disappointed either way.

So you're saying 2023 MT will be investment? Imagine a zero miles MT gas Taco in 2050!

Playing with your peeling knob and sobbing sounds like maybe you didn't use enough sunscreen. HAHA

Curious and not intending to point the finger - do you rest your hand there when driving or do you only use your shifter for shifting?

42,000 miles on my 2019 and it still looks new. Never rest my hand on it though.

My last car was a turbo 4. I liked it just fine. I sometimes miss the turbo BOV sound when driving my Taco.

I have 10k on my truck and I remember mine started to peel on the backside within months of owning it. I never rest my hand on it either.
Update if you end up taking it in. Im curious as to what the dealer tells you.

Chances are they will tell you it is a "wearable" item, like brake pads :)
Argue :argue: that it is a part of the drive train and slam the thing on the counter,... they will replace it :facepalm:.

I know this is a stupid question, but what's a "shoft knob"...? :D

    Every warranty available.
MT owner just jumping in to look for the opportunity to reply with the word "manually" in every sentence.

A little bit of this, a little bit of that. I do a lot of back roads driving to work, so my hand is on my knob more often than not.
