Just pop the boot off and give her a couple spins. She'll tighten right up.

Question. Do some of you prefer the leather style shift knob vs the ball style? I vastly prefer a ball and it's the first thing I change.

Thanks, That's what I thought but a Dumb Question is better than a dumb move.

I'm not all that impressed with the offerings for 5spd, so I'm compelled to design one myself. Looking for ideas, because I'm not even happy with my own renderings yet ...

What is the optimal diameter? Shape? Number height? Font? Gate diagram size? ... etc ...

These are all 2.5" diameter spheres into 15 degree taper, which is probably too big.

This first option would be easiest for me to program. Our network only allows a single seat to use the 3D profiling license at a time, and it can be impossible to lock it in (even in off hours). A simple 2D pocketing toolpath can make this one easily.

These next options would require 3D toolpaths.

Rear shot. All the same from this angle.

Below is using different software. Fusion 360 for the above examples, Mastercam 2017 for the below.

Hit me with some ideas, I wouldn't mind a having a muse (or three) right now. It wouldn't be difficult to make a 6spd pattern as well.

Got my Speed Dawg shift knob today.
    IMG_6075.jpg
It's slightly smaller than the TRD ball and it looks like they use the same font.

All in all i'm happy with it, and it matches my all black interior.

About the size of a pool table ball. Seems big, but it's really not. I drilled and helicoiled a cue ball once, and it was perfect. I would be just splendid if you made a gate diagram in the shape of a pentagram for shits and giggles. And maybe a characature of Cthulhu on the front. Thnx

Was wondering why the TRD felt so massive after using a speed dawg for so long. Kinda miss the smaller ball.

Yeah that was one reason why I switched up too, the TRD feels like your shifting with a baseball haha

Installed my ARC titanium shift knob leftover from my WRX I sold a few years back. I used the the grommet from Home Depot. Works fine at least until someone starts making new shift boots for these trucks.
