I’m really interested in manual swapping my 2003 dc 3.4 4x4 tacoma and wanna know everything you would need for it, i’m not attempting this myself but i have someone who could do it. I just want a parts list so i can estimate how much the total would be.

I’ve looked into this for my 03 DC as well, you need a lot. It would be best to buy an entire donor truck to make the swap.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Buy the complete donor vehicle and get it home.

Doing it one part at a time never ends things are forgotten many extra trips and time.

Then lets think about the electrical end The ECM from the Donor Might need the engine harness? The neutral safety switch work around Wiring the 4th ECM plug .

I never did one with the drive by wire throttle body would you stick with that style or change to what ever style is on the donor.

I swear every swap /conversion is just different enough.

And this is why I’m paralyzed when committing to buying parts for a swap into my 04 DC.

The answers range from “all you need is the tranny, clutch, driveshaft, ECU, hydraulics, brake and clutch pedals” to “you need to swap out the throttle body, engine wiring harness, transfer case, etc”

Thing is if your vehicle needs emission testing you don`t need the Mil light on all the time.

The swap is pretty much physical simple to get running and your finished.

I forget just what year all the ECM plugs are the same very time consuming but you can sit down and repin the Automatic ECM to work and not trip the MIL.

The drive by wire throttle body sure makes it a challenge !! I sometimes forget those oddball years . Really limits you to those model years unless you decided to swap the the cable system.

I would not touch a swap without the complete donor vehicle running and be able to at least insure everything works Plus the EWD for similar for the Donor vehicle .

It is the little things that get skipped . Most people are focused on the major components .

The level of skill seems to be given little thought.

Every swap is some what going to be different to some degree.

    Do the 2.7 to 3.4 / manual / 4x4 swap .

just doing a auto to manual is quite easy.

Good Luck !! We all have our systems that work for us!!
