Look, I'm not a ballerina, I'm just a thug with a normal foot. I'm finding it hard to push the clutch pedal to the floor without pointing my toe excessively. My heal hits the floorboard before the clutch pedal is fully depressed.

Any others have this "problem" and/or know a way to adjust the travel of the clutch pedal?

It only has adjustment for free play, you can't change the height of the pedal.

It's a tough manual to get used to, but you'll get it.

It's a long ways to the floor for sure but I love the way it shifts. ;)

I had to move my seat back and forth about 20 times before I found the spot where the clutch felt right

If anyone moves my seat it starts all over

I despise them haha, I've had a couple older Toyota truck manuals, and a bucket of other manuals, but I never got the hang of the 05+ tacoma 6 speeds.

There's an accumulator delete that you can read about on here that helps with some issues. I suspect it would help me.

Scoot seat forward one click. Youll feel close to everything else but you can get the clutch to the floor. Ive got short legs and a long torso and that was my fix. It does feel weird going from the wifes subaru to the truck though.

I did the accumulator mod but i still always feel close to the steering wheel. Engagement is way more consistent though.

That seems to be the trick. Getting your seat in the right place.

The '20s have an auto seat right? It would make it way easier to change if needed. I marked my seat rails with white out. you can use paint pen or metallic sharpie so i can get it back as needed.

Bolting a small block of 2x4 to the top of the clutch pedal would solve the problem. LOL

truck has a telescoping steering wheel. You can move it a bit if it’s too close.

Subjective. You don't know what a tough clutch is until you've driven farm or heavy equipment, older Peterbilts, Kenworths or older mechanical linkage clutches from 70s era down trucks etc.

The Tacoma clutch is easy to master.

This only matters for starting, the actual engagement point of the clutch is very high, you don’t have to put it to the floor

I agree. The clutch and smooth, confidence inspiring, short throw shift is very easy.

First gear from a stop is usually the rough one as any clutch chatter is going to show up there and if it's going to stall, that's when it will do it.

Not this sucker! When you let the clutch out, it goes.

I also like that it holds you on a hill for a second while you get your foot off the brake and onto the gas. Very nice. ;)

That is the Hill Start Assist available on the Sport that is holding you.

Can't say I have this experience. I have 10.5 feet so average and do not find getting the clutch to the floor difficult.

Well, whatever the heck it is, it's going to destroy all my manual shifting skills, and I love it.

I have hill start assist on my current MINI Cooper S and love it, especially in the hilly Northwest. There are steep hills that still make me a bit nervous here when a car is right on my rear bumper. I've been driving manuals for about twenty years, an early 90s BMW 3 series, an early 2000s 3 series, and a late 2000s MINI Cooper S more recently. The MINI Cooper and early 2000s 3 series clutch felt very similar, very "hydraulic". The resistance varies based on how far your foot is engaged, where the friction fulcrum point is specifically.

I've test driven both a 6MT 2020 TRD Sport and 2020 TRD OR and found the clutch feel and gearbox to feel significantly different than the MINI Cooper (no big surprise there coming to a truck of course). The resistance of the clutch is uniform through its engagement, which for me translates into not being able to specifically feel the friction fulcrum point. This was initially a little awkward but you quickly get used to it. I would say, based on two test drives, that the Tacoma is more forgiving than the MINI Cooper and would probably be a better vehicle to learn manual on. Regarding the gearbox, the throws are a bit longer on the Tacoma but the armrest is very supportive with good ergonomics for my average height and arm length.

I'm a bit torn over the TRD Sport. I'd prefer to have a TRD Offroad for the rear locker, but I know I'll get way more practical use out of the hill start assist. Finding a 2020 TRD OR with Premium and Advanced Tech packages on a dealer lot is a needle in a hay stack here, with TRD Sport with those packages being slightly easier.
