Did the TOB actually fail or did it just start squeaking?

I'm at 108k miles now, my TOB has been squeaky since I bought it 3 years ago with 42k miles. Still no failure.

My 05 did this but I don't really think the 08 does. I haven't noticed it and have made point of opening door and mashing pedal bunch of times after parking in the garage just to check it out. TOB quiet and no pedal squeak either.

2007 with 40k on it and no clutch or bearing issues at all.

2009 with 35k on is and no clutch or bearing issues at all, the 2009 is SC'd as well.

I don't off road my truck much though, just the occasional camping trip.

My '02 had this mostly with the changes in seasons - they said the bushings should be replaced at a cost of $$ so I got used to it and turned up the radio - I went with an automatic on my '12.

I had my clutch squeak fixed about 6 months ago. It was covered under warranty. Been fine so far, but I know it will be back eventually.

No squeak yet on mine...but I only have about 1,000 miles on it.

My first vehicle was an '86 4Runner (back when they were simply a Hilux with a back seat and fiberglass top), and the clutch on that squeaked for years...so I'm familiar with the behavior.

Mine squeaks/creaks. 2011 13k miles. This is the only complaint I have about this truck thus far, seeing all the tsb's let's hope it stays that way.
I just went outside and twisted that nut/shaft and it went away. Now time to see how long it takes till the creak returns.

My trouble seems to be in the plastic support arm when things get warm outside...a little spray on white greese does it!

its the throwout bearing, there is a TSB for it. They switched my throwout bearing and my squeeking stopped.

I have the in-cabin squeak, so I know it's the pedal. They've lubed it and ordered new bushings, so hopefully that will help.

Yeah I get the in cabin squeak once in a while, but a little motorcycle chain lube takes care of it for at least a year. Why chain lube? It goes on thin and foams to cover the area well then thicken up almost instantly so it won't drip.

Are you guys with the squeaking bearings resting your foot on the pedal or holding the clutch in at lengthy stop lights? This would contribute to faster wear and cause the bearing to warm up more.

I always shift to neutral and release the pedal even if I am only sitting for a few seconds.

i have a 2009 V6 six speed manual. My clutch was squeaking very loud. After the Dealership had 2 attempts to fix it they asked me to call Toyota and speak to the factory rep...He met me at the dealer ,gave me a loaner car ,and fixed the problem. This was over 3 years ago..He installed a new clutch pedal assembly..It is different than the 2 the dealer installed..He said he also uses a special grease from Toyota.(whatever that is)

    2007 Taco - No squeaks.
2008 Taco - No clutch squeak, but starting this past year the shift boot would squeak incessantly while it was in 5th gear. Not sure what it was but it would get worse as the shifter vibrated more (i.e., during acceleration). Some days/weeks were bad and others I'd barely notice. I tried cleaning and moisturizing the leather (or whatever it's made out of) and manipulating the boot so that it wasn't folding upon the same folds as it moved, but nothing ever seemed to do anything.
    2012 Taco - It's now 8 days old, so we'll see.
