Probably somewhere in the forums figure be quicker to get some answers this way .
    K so I have a 2020 with a manual transmission with only 400 miles on it .
My question is I go from 2nd to 3rd gear and I get this crunch felling going into 3rd no other gear does it and there is no grind.
I have tried between 2-3500 rpm range when shifting going around 40-45 mph and it seems to do it but only going from 2nd to 3rd . I can go from 4th drop it down to 3rd and cant reproduce it . Normal ??? I Know the truck is new .should I address it with the dealer or put more miles on it to break in the clutch more and if it continues to do it take it in ?. What's your thought guys thanks .

I had a bit of that on the bad stock tune that required a lot of attention to shifting, but it was never one particular gear.

The syncros will take longer than 400mi to break in. If it continues, it might be time for the dealer?

Clutch depressed all the way? Make sure it's touching the floor during shift. Also, keep those RPMs even higher. The 3.5 operates way better when it is screaming (higher rpms). Take to dealer and have them look at it if it is bothering you. Could be a few different things. Won't really know until the troubleshooting begins.

What are your rpms when it happens? My drivetrain clunks a bit when I shift if my rpms are at or around idle speed. This sometimes happens if I pause after pushing in the clutch and wait a second or two before up-shifting. If this is what you're describing I don't think it's anything to be concerned about, it just shifts smoother with a little gas.

    Canada Eh!
I’m not sure how you shift, but if you haven’t, on your 2 to 3 upshift try applying a small amount of up pressure on the stick then when the revs are matched the transmission should almost pull the stick into 3rd. Or simply try shifting when the revs are matched.

If you’re a DIY guy then I’d suggest checking your gearbox fluid level. I’d probably hold off on swapping out the fluid until later, just incase it is a warranty thing, but I suspect it will improve with break in.

Your truck is still a baby. I would let it break in a bit more before taking it in. You've got PLENTY of time left on your warranty anyway.

FWIW, I noticed changes in how my truck operated from 0-2000 miles. You can feel the break-in taking place... truck operates noticeably smoother now at 2500 miles than when I bought it.

Is it a clunk or a crunch? Maybe a clunk if I'm being lazy. Never a crunch

It's a truck transmission. Are you trying to shift it like a sports car? I've had to be a little slower and more intentional with my shifts compared to my WRX to get the smoothest gear changes.

Opposite for me faster shifts are more smooth, plus fast shifts are better for your transmission and clutch.

I'm talking gear rowing, not the clutch work.

Same here, and with the power band that kicks in at 3500 rpms I feel like I'm in a lifted, bouncy version of my old Mk4 R32 trying to wipe the same grin off my face at every highway on ramp.

Maybe check fluid first, then give it some time, you only got 400 miles.

My tranny shifts smoother the more i drive it, got 20k km (12k miles) and it shifts like butter, i love this tranny. Wish the pedal response was a bit better but i learned to live with it.

I think I know what you're describing. Mine is the same way. Every gear except third is smooth. Third feels kinda clunky, with I don't know how to describe it... a bit of crunch and resistance right before full engagement? I will say it has gotten significantly better with miles and it helps taking a little extra time going into third.

How does it shift in low range? When mine was new second to third would actually grind in low range. I had to double clutch it to get a smooth engagement.

After 15k miles it's not as pronounced, but I'm still keeping an eye on it. Not convinced that there isn't something wrong with the synchros on third gear.

Trucks not like a regular/sports car. If you ain't wasting gas you ain't driving fast jk

I'm not noticing what you are experiencing but I have realized driving this thing is no S2000 or Viper.

You need to let the transmission break in. Likely nothing wrong at all, its just new. Come back at 7K miles and let us know how it is working.

I have the exact same thing as you OP.. Now with 10K, it is smoother, but can still feel that sometime.
