Yup sounds like there are to a certain degree idiot proof safe guards in place so even more so they should feel comfortable doing the update.

That was @Ruggybuggy 's whole thing when he started that thread. He just happened to see the update available when he did a Health Check on his own Taco. Just that damn simple!

Although, there are some things here:
-- For the MT update, we can brick our ECUs. Following the instructions in the 1st Post greatly limits that. And, there are ways to unbrick it, but it is not fun.
-- With OVT, we can accidentally install tunes intended for other ECUs. But with OVT, it is said that we cannot brick an ECU. There were some soft bricks on Alpha test tunes, but nothing that is out in the wild.

Oh, you drove Ovidius' truck? Was it really that bad?

Yes. It was. Every control felt different and more difficult than mine. The only one that I had any explanation for was his brakes as they are a different system than our Sports. He also drove mine and was amazed.

I test drove three other Tacos when I was shopping (2nd Gen SR 5MT, 2nd Gen Sport 6MT, and another 3rd Gen Sport MT). They all feel pretty much like mine even the 2nd Gens with a ton of miles.

Poor guy, i actually thought he did not know how to drive MT properly. Like you said, after being on TW, i realized some trucks are very different from others. We tried to meet couple times but i was kinda busy, too bad.

I know its a different brake system for OR, how did it feel different?

He drove mine really well. It was a crappy situation. He did try out my dealer for a couple things and said that they helped him as best as they could.

It felt more stiff and took less pedal travel to engage. That sort of worked because his clutch was similarly stiff, the MT didn't feel right, and something was off with the steering. So, it all felt odd, difficult, and not enjoyable. I guess it was one small thing that all the controls felt about the same and do usually appreciate consistency. Haha!
